Feeling purposeless and lack of direction in life

You don’t need fields at all for finding direction or personal meaning in your life.

The most common form of advice is to “just do it”, which is true, but it fails to account for the reality of things. The reality is, the goals we seek to reach require a sacrifice of our current behavior. This means recognising habits you have that are not constructive towards your greater goals. of course you can have leisure time for whatever, but this should not be at the detriment of your goal.

It’s hard to get rid of habits without replacing them with new ones. This is why all of the great’s have idols. An idol is someone you look to as a structure to model yourself after. your idol’s lifestyle is likely on the internet. the things they did towards their goal, the mindset they took on, etc. An idol is not a religious figure you worship like jesus, they are an example of someone who did the right things to achieve what you want.

If you know that your idol reached a particular level of greatness through a particular level of effort and practice, then you know that you will be able to get close to that level with the same effort and practice.

Focus on your journey, with your destination in mind but not at the forefront of your mind. Assume you will reach your goal eventually if you focus on the journey

I recommend you read into stoic philosophy and the philosophy of Sisyphus.
