Indigenous / world cultures music highlight

Wow… This thread will be my playlist for tomorrow (err… I mean today, already :clock3:).

A traditional one from here, in modernized version. The singer Paul Dwyer is Scottish (living in Turkey) and the trio is Turkish.

I think this is from an Indian movie? I like the beats and colors on this one… something about the reds… Youtube keeps recommending it lol

I don’t quite understand Indian classical music very well, but this one’s crazy! They seem to overlay so many notes on top of each other… This video I think was tweeted by my crazy friend Drew Hempel, who finds the seven standard notes of Indian music to perfectly sync with the Chakra frequencies.

Awesome one, I often listen to her and other videos in that channel. The Darbar channel in yt is full of Indian classical musicians. I just loose the sense of time listening to them.

This is absolutely true. As I know few still do Pranayama and other practices every day to maintain the synchronised breath and vocals.

So I’ve finally listened to the whole thread and had an excellent time! (Still a few links by Lilo that I save for later).

Thanks for the world tour, guys! :earth_africa: :pray:t2:

@DR_MANHATTAN I’m currently reading a bio of Gauguin (written in a superb French), so the musics matched well ^^

Yessss! I love them! Ahhhh this gives me an excuse to insert here this from my favorite one’s soundtrack, by the legendary A. R. Rahman:

Thanks for all the recs for new music to try! I need to level up from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. :joy:

To add: I still unironically love that song (and Koi Mil Gaya) as representations of more carefree times. Linking in case someone has not yet had the pleasure of getting these tunes stuck in their head, leading to a spontaneous shoulder shimmy.

I absolutely love Ani Choying-Drolma. Watching her live is an exquisite experience.

What??? Am I dreaming or something? Finally someone who loves these as much as I do!:heart_eyes::heart_eyes: Good old vanished times, isn’t it… and carefree, yes! Thanks @lilo for bringing the songs here. I adoooore “Yeh Ladka Hai Deewana“ :notes: :notes: :musical_note: too!

By the way, I have a photography of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in my living room :))) (along with other scenes/actors from my favorite movies. A sort of cinema wall, you know). Loved their other collaborations as well (“My name is Khan”, etc.)

sorry late reply, I got caught in a YouTube blackhole of rewatching all of the clips again.:joy: You just can’t resist the pull of vintage SRK. You and me and everyone in the videos’ comments section revisiting their childhoods in these crazy times.

Oh noooeees, no need to be sorry :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: “Vintage” is the perfect term! :)) Ah @lilo, I think I’ll restart a retrospective of SRK as soon as tomorrow thanks to you :hugs:

The ultimate anti aging movies ^^

A Preview of My Culture:
(I really enjoy it after the SECOND Minute)

(The second song) It’s a Song about a Young Romanian Girl, she has to make a choice between 2 men, a Prince and a Poor Violinist.

Which one do you think she chose?

Such Beautiful and Emotional Songs and Instruments Romania has…

Nostalgic would be a defining word, of a Long Gone World, Forgotten, with Tales of Castles, Forests, Mountains and Rivers… But also, a world of Shepherds and Pristine Plains.

Although we also have some Happy and Enliving songs.

Edit: I thought about it. There are no likes here, but maybe some people actually watch/listen to these clips; it wouldn’t be fair to post about a Preview for Romanian Culture without mentioning THE Greatest (or at the very least one of the greatest) Romanian Composer (also Violinist and conductor) and Musician of All times: George Enescu!

Listen to these 2:
