Is there a way to test the servitors before getting them?

So I read that the servitors will always be there when you get them they just remain dormant. I’ve heard stories of them being around even when you discard or move away the item they are bound on. This seems permanent… I was wondering if there was a way to try them before getting them for good?

Also there are different types so how does one know which is best for you? For example a dragon and a fae seems drastically different. Is getting a little fae a good one for ‘starter’ or are they essentially the same regardless of size or nature?

I’d say no.
Only do create them if you see yourself using them, if you have a “role” for them.

If there is not one nor you identify with their abilities, may be it is best not to go forward.

The fae is getting the spotlight atm, given its abilities just as the Energetic one, but all of them are powerful. And even though some might not have actual Passive/Active abilities ingrained, all of them might be able to learn.

So ,in a sense, their power also lies in you. But with great power comes great responsibility, as you can see

I’d suggest to hear the intercessions and see if you relate to any one in particular (Devic, Dragon, etc…)

In addition to @RisingKundaFest’s advice, it depends upon what you prefer, and whether you wish to have any of the abilities specific to a particular servitor. However, it is possible to learn to interact with any of the servitors over time.

Also, Dream’s servitors can all be taught new abilities and adapt to your wishes, though this may take some time and practise if you are new to interacting with servitors.

Yes, the new Fae Servitor and Energetic Support Servitor are excellent for beginners to start with.

Many find the Fae Servitor has a pleasant ‘personality’.

I want to give 100 likes to this post of yours. You just happened to express, with much wisdom, something I might be a little concerned about too, deep inside.

I just wanted to say, like everything DW is doing recently, this servitors are not like the old ones, who needed constant/frequent instruction to start off.
They are strong and act like conscious intelligent fields.

To continue your analogy (this is just an analogy folks…don’t take this literally please), these servitors are more like cats than dogs …meaning, they don’t need constant attention and “coaching” to do their thing.

They already have “active” skills (see active skill list) which they start working on as soon as they are created and would keep them near constantly busy. So they aren’t going to be “bored” if you never/rarely talked to them or go weeks without specific instructions.

If you are worried, simply tell them to make one of the passive skills more active under certain conditions, or to “go learn everything about X” when they are not actively needed (just like the old servitors).

So don’t think of them as pets… Unless you think of them as fully grown, conscious, super intelligent “pets” that have their own stuff to do when you’re not around or busy. You know…like a human friend. And not the needy ones.
