I personally fully agree with you
When one does something with passion, sooner or later finds ones path in life and thrives through it.
One of my nephews never wanted to study, was very difficult growing up, trying to fit in the expectations of the family and society was a big challenge and daily struggle.
We gave up. And just accepted him.
He found that he loves playing games (yeah our first reaction was to shake our heads like “typical” of course he wants to play all day) 
because thats why lazy people do. Right?
Well My sister, his Mom and his father decided to support that and all the way, so now he has a channel, in some platforms, is starting to make money, is considering and looking into ways to design and develop games etc.
I know he will do great, succeed and be happy.
All he needed was support, trust, love and follow his passion.
So, let it be
