Living in a monastery, temple?

Is anyone living in a monastery? Or temple? Even a retreat center?

I’m in the US, but am feeling that I’m about to embark on a new transition. New occupation, new people, new environment.

I guess I’m asking for any suggestions or recommendations. Could be anywhere near a body of water, forrest, mountain.

Thanks for reading and any considerations.

Kind of blown away by the area around Arunachala.

The Indian subcontinent seems so far away for me, and not necessarily speaking geographically. I feel like I would get lost there, more in the spiritual and ideas of self. Would be a bit much on my own.

I only have a beginning sense to appreciate the suggestion.

The Bali ones show here seem very touristy. Does anyone from “the outside” actually stay there for a longer period of time with connecting with the place? I’ve never been to Bali either but the image seems more touristic and people just passing through. I would usually stay with a place for at least year. Lately its been more like 3-6 months.

Tungnath…my impression is like something I can’t comprehend. Has/does anyone here live(d) there?

Unfortunately yes. But once you visit the temples. You’ll feel different kind of vibe. If you feel like you want to avoid touristy places just avoid ubud. Because it’s just too damn touristy but ubud is so beautiful! Trust me. The energy of Bali is something else.

Again just avoid ubud or kuta beach lol.
