On a side note, mentions of keeping conscious mind and some video game references made me recall this really good game Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason - Wikipedia - not on Steam unfortunately due to publisher issues with copyright.
But there is enough story and atmosphere there, so a comprehensive let’s play will be fine.
