I don’t understand for whom exactly you are playing the devil’s advocate here other than trying to argue that sellers should not protect their products from theft because “it may lead to thieves and completely uninformed users having a bad opinion about these products”.
This is absolutely crazy!
This is as if one would arguing that fashion stores should not put theft protection onto their cloth because it will create a bad reputation among thieves that the items cannot be simply stolen and taken away.
Just because the cloth hangs there on the shelf does not give anyone the right to just take it. And every mentally healthy person knows this! This is common sense for every normal person. Except for those of course, who live in a cognitive dissonance where they find reasons of why “it is okay to steal”.
Please look into the mirror.
Just because some imbacile moronic low lives already steal something does not mean that a seller has to stop protecting their items from thefts. This is a completely flawed argument.
Just because cars are stolen and protected by the owners from theft, does not mean that all of a sudden the majority of people on the street will assume that “because some cars are stolen” that now no car on the planet works.
Again, some crazy twisted logic here.
If this is really the case, then we just uncovered a shadow part inside you that needs to be healed. This part of you is defending theft. Time for some shadow work and lessons on integrity.

No, they are not.
They don’t prevent theft in the slightest.
Especially with digital products.
And a thief is someone who per definition does not care about “legal stuff”.
Copyright does not prevent theft. It only makes it a little bit more difficult to resell ‘en masse’ and gives the producer an option to sue.
Dream made the protection with the same technology as the product itself.
Which is very powerful, because when the product and its protection are made of the same, they become literally non-separatably from each other.
