Dude’s trying to make people forget him. And create another identity. Next time on Sapien Medicine…Philip disappears again?

This is something that has interested me, and Ive gathered some resources to try and look into it. Lots of very good things were available from Dale Power’s old sites and I’ve taken notes from there.

I’ve also noticed that a lot of different esoteric/occult books will touch upon the similar subjects. In many cases, they go directly to making different entities/servitors rather than fields dedicated to a specific purpose. But the sorts of pointers they give are helpful for getting a sense of the sort of space of awareness that people are operating in.

Oddly enough, many of the best books tend to be out of print.

William Gray had a lot of good information about the western tradition, but the specific details he put into “A Self Made By Magic” or “Attainment Through magick: Evoking of the Higher Self” (they’re different editions of the same book) are helpful. He has instructions for basically making some guardian angel servitors–keeping them them awareness, developng the “soul” or behavioral attributes before giving them appearances, adding qualities like self-sustainability, etc.

With william Gray’s works on the Tree of Life, it kind of gives a bigger picture of how a person should develop their awareness of all of the different layers and use that knowledge to help form and define the servitor. I imagine it can be scaled to psychic constructs of any kind. Aryeh Kaplan’s notes in the Sefer Yetzirah also give a good sense of the concentration and ability to maintain awareness of form that would be needed (whether for making a golem or making a field).

I think WIlliam Gray probably gives the best general sense of things, but it can be found in other books like Cosimano’s work on psionic abilities, or one of his protege’s (Tom Vrilock… or whatever his real name is) who has added notes and information to the psionic experiments. Some of the same ideas show up on books that talk about Fae and making Faerie creatures.

Some aren’t very helpful— they just dive in and say let your imagine run wild. In those cases, it sounds like people make servitors out of their own energy using an unfoussed blend of their own mental and emotional energy. So I think Gray and Kaplan add a lot of sophistication in connecting the creative process to a full understanding of all levels of the tree of life. And Dale Power’s notes on the use of an external energy rather than personal energy are also very helpful.

Lots of nice details also show up in the Neo-Druid works of Douglas Monroe and his student Merlyn Stone/Joshua Free.

At the end of the day, none of the books are necessary. People would just need to settle into a clear state of meditation and start experimenting. But, for me, it’s very helpful to begin with a sense of awareness and space that the different authors convey rather than a blind guess from my limited starting point.

Hopefully the information may be helpful to someone.
