Yes. It also means intuition. Affecting the environment seems to be more difficult than positioning yourself. Yknow, like how gamblers think some machine is “hot”, or about to pay. Easier to find that machine than to affect a non-paying one (after all, they follow a programming…they will never give more than they take…so it is about timing).
The stat I meant was mostly time. That’s why I mentioned the experiment.
Pretty sure it is faster to find something you’re looking for, than if you’re open to everything and looking at all the options.
I could give examples of my personal life, but the thing to trade for luck is time and choice. If you have a lot of great opportunities…you still have to choose.
So that’s what I meant…luck needs some time and focus, that you take away from other things.
Yknow what they say, luck is when preparation meets opportunity. That preparation time seems more valuable to me. But ofc…that’s how luck is…sometimes you give up what is the logical best choice and that takes you down a greater path. But I think it isn’t wise to expect those things and most people end up worse after straying from their chosen paths.
So that’s why I think luck is something to give up in exchange of other things. If you chase it, then you have to trade it for something else.
A lot of luck, with no preparation, isn’t as good as with it.
