What is "The Hum"?

-The Hum is a name often given to widespread reports of a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming, rumbling, or droning noise not audible to all people.

That is the offical description for the phenomenon known as the hum. Now I am only posting this because I have not seen anyone talking about this and it’s hard for me to find info on it so I was wondering what you guys think. Here’s some quick info regarding my location and experience.

I live in the states, Southern california LA county. IDK if that has anything to do with it. The first time I heard it was when I randomly woke up at 3am in the morning and I heard a low sorta frequency noise but I couldn’t pinpoint the location of it because it sounded like it was coming from everywhere at the same time. The 3rd time it happend was around like 12am again but this time my little brother was there and he was able to hear it too! We went all the way outside to the front lawn and we heard it but again we’re not able to locate it. Not only can you hear it but you can also sorta feel it. I actually called my best friend that lives like 5 mins away from me and he also confirmed that he could hear/feel it. There is actually a website where people that have heard this can mark their location and the website shows and maps out where people have experienced this.

The reason I’m writing this now at 3am is because I can slightly hear it again and it sounds like if a car was playing music in the distance but all you could hear is the base. Can someone provide some insight? I also read it it could possibly be the pollution that is causing the low frequency noise and I mean I live right by LA so that would make sense. Any thoughts and opinions would be very much appreciated. (=

That’s interesting. I’ll pay more attention to see if I can notice something of that kind here where I live. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve heard it also. I remember waking up at 4 a.m. thinking it was an alien ship or something. Lol A buddy of mine said it could be power lines. But, I never found out anything. I saw a lot of stuff on Reddit about it.

Hmm… us D to be the pipes in one of the houses I lived in, something with the pressure and heating (heating with gas via water pipes). I figured out that it stopped when I adjusted the temp slightly.
But if you hear it outside, it is probably not that…

could be power lines, but it’s not a good sign if you can hear it in terms of elektrosmog

It can always be :alien: overlords of course :D
