Hey everyone,
I found there really is something ancient and instinctive about using our hands to ease pain - and yet, in the modern world, it’s something we’ve nearly forgotten (maybe not, but that’s how it seems at least).
I was reminded of this during a simple yet powerful moment with my mum. She had been struggling with knee pain some years ago, and I remember one afternoon at my grandma’s, I gently placed my hands around her knee. No elaborate technique, no words - just presence, quiet intention, and a willingness to let whatever energy needed to move, move.
Well, I say no elaborate technique, but I remember doing an online reiki course at the time, so that was very likely an influence, at least to some extent.
The next day, she told me her pain had decreased by about 70%…! Staggering!
We were both surprised by how much relief had occurred overnight - but something about it also felt deeply natural, like this was how it was always meant to be.
I did continue these “treatments” with her at the time every other day. I think it kinda peaked at 85% level of relief, and then the natural healing power of the body did the rest, as usual. If I recall, her knee recovered faster than what the doctor predicted.
Anyways, this experience definitely stayed with me. It made me reflect on how we all carry powerful healing tools with us every day - our own two hands (seems mundane, I know…) - and how rarely we use them in this way.
With our hands we can make and create stuff, we can do all kinds of cool things. Why not add hands-on healing to our repertoire as well?
For me, after learning energy work and receiving healing attunements from our energy awakening course (which btw is now available again if you check out Arcova), I noticed that my palms had become more sensitive. Sometimes, without even consciously trying, they would respond via tingling, warming, or subtly activating when I was near someone or something (the other day I was at the museum at an exhibition about Egypt and my left hand was buzzing near certain objects. Or the story I posted the other day about using my left hand on the correct mystery box).
Even holding a photo of someone, with genuine care and intention, seemed to be enough to activate that healing presence. It’s as though the hands are an extension of the heart: they listen, respond, and transmit without needing to explain themselves.
There is an entire technique for eye relief, for instance, you can rub your palms vigorously and then very gently place them on your eyes. Simply remain like this for 30 seconds or longer and you should already notice sth. Its called Palming.
Or the other day when I noticed some issue on my back and just reached my hand there. Just left my palm on the spot and did nothing else except a genuine intent for healing. It was better in minutes, unsurprisingly.
And yeah, this isn’t really surprising at all, right?
We knew this as children. Watch a baby: they reach out with their hands before they can even speak. When a child falls, the first thing they do is place their hands over the sore spot.
It’s built into us.
When someone is sad, we instinctively place a hand on their back or reach out to hold them. We offer our hands in comfort and connection without even thinking.
Try hugging someone for a longer time and see how that feels.
I think its simply that somewhere along the way, many of us just stopped trusting that there was more happening beneath the surface.
But your hands - they really do remember.
They are sensitive, intelligent, and energetically alive.
When guided by sincere intention, love, and awareness, they can become channels for healing far beyond what most people believe is possible. They don’t need permission. They don’t need credentials.
Just use them!
So why am I writing this?
It’s simply a reminder, for myself, as much as to anyone reading this:
Don’t forget the power you hold, quite literally, in your hands. If someone you love is hurting, place your hands gently on them. If they’re far away, imagine holding their image or their energy and sending warmth through your palms. If you are the one in pain, cradle the area yourself and breathe. Even a few quiet minutes can shift something. Not everything needs to be fixed with machines, or pills, or noise. Some things just need presence. Some things need you. Your hands. Your awareness.
So I say, let’s use our hands again - not just to type or swipe, but to hold, to comfort, to heal. We don’t have to wait for someone else to do it. We were born with this gift.
Remember this gift.
And cheers!
