I’ve just realised how much of an Arab elitist I’ve sounded like. My sincerest apologies. Don’t wanna pick on Saudi here, but I was kinda brainwashed into the whole, “we’re all muslims and the same” thing. It’s only later in life that I’ve realised how diverse these groups are. Even so called “Arabs” like Moroccans have their own personal (Berber) history. And so do the Syrians (originally the phoenicians but speak arabic now) and Iraqis (Sumerians basically) and of course the Turks and Persians. All have been arabised to some degree. Some more than others.
PS: And I’ve also found out a lot of these people want nothing to do with Arabs or Islam lol

No problem :) If you knew all the things I had to fight against while I was living abroad… At least you have the wisdom to dig deeper into realities… Can’t say the same for everybody.
Plus, the current government has totally destroyed “our” image. Many people openly hate us all around the world.
Once again, this is something in which one needs direct experience.
Many foreigner friends (and some have become relatives in law) were freaking out before coming to visit us… then, they changed their mind, once here :)
