I do not have much background info on this topic and my whole knowledge about Tibetan history comes from the ā€œSeven Years in Tibetā€ movie, however I remember many years ago watching this lecture on the ā€œDark Side of the Dalai Lamaā€.

Unfortunately it is German only, however YouTube allows for English subtitles with automatic translation:

The thing I like about Zen buddhism and Taoism is that it does need to rely on saviours, popes or messiahs, or any form of spiritual or religious authority.

Tibetan buddhism is very religious in that sense. It needs an authority to guide people on how to be spiritual, but IMO that only perpetuates the need for an authority.

Tibetan monks shaving their heads, wearing orange costumes, candles, rituals to start and end a meditation it is very procedural and ego based.

You can meditate playing football, going on camping with friends, you donā€™t need to shave your head, wear costumes, ring bells, light candles and all that religious stuff thatā€™s added on top of it.

Iā€™m not saying itā€™s bad, but itā€™s not needed IMO.

The controversy here isnt about the religion, but the dalai lama asking a young boy to suck his tongue after kissing him on the lips lol

Yeah, my concern is: ā€œWhy the guy has such a place to be able to do all that when he should have that place in the first place?ā€.

He selected 3 toys and makes him a buddha or something? What if his mother suggested him to fixate on those toys because she was trying to escape poverty in Tibet by having a Dalai Lama son, now heā€™s some kind of buddha because of that?

Awful, disgusting, traumatizing.

Thats what i think.

Ive never really follow news so i dont know what bad reputation hes had, so in my head he was like holy, but that was plain disgusting. Poor boy and i now imagine how many more have gone through that. I was in shock all day yesterday. Imagine that boy

Yeah I heard about it on the news yesterday. Not only did I find it shocking but the act committed was quite gross.

Heā€™s clearly lost his mind to do that. I mean this is supposed to be the spiritual leader of our planet as wellā€¦ spiritual my ass! Heā€™s as spiritual as a bottle of Jack Danielā€™s Tennessee.

I hope itā€™s fake because if itā€™s not then world is just going completely insane!

I agree with most of what youā€™ve said, although not from the same point of view because I am not familiar with the tradition.

But religion seems to be a very egoic way in which people in low vibration identify themselves with guides and teachings given by someone in high vibration, but they misunderstand them because they are interpreting everything the person in high vibration is saying or doing from a place of low vibration. And there you have a religion.

This is why acknowledging subjective division is so important. Because meaning and interpretation it is not universal, trascendental and immutable, but odd, particular, material and always mutating.

If we donā€™t acknowledge this fact, we fall into universal ways of understanding the world, people and ourselves. Which is incredible damaging for everyone.

Not cool

Iā€™m sure one day theyā€™ll say ā€œin the XXI century, people were all delirious because of micro plastic poisoning. IQs were dropping, hormones were messed up, diseases were on the rise, culture reversedā€.

Micro plastic does go through the blood brain barrier and into the brain.

I donā€™t how old he is but heā€™s literally fucked his chance to get in to the Pure Lands now (ā€¦ or some heavenly realm). Heā€™ll have to come back here to this shit hole and start all over again. Ohh manā€¦ he was so close as well and he threw all his hard work out the window at the last minute lol

No doubt, South Park has always been notorious for been too ā€˜near the knuckleā€™.

Do you remember that scene from that ā€˜HumancentiPadā€™ episode where Cartman and his mum are out shopping for an Apple IPad? :joy::joy:

Iā€™m definitely not gonna defend it ā€”but if you actually know all of the things written in the Tibetan libraries, as weird as it was, it was pretty mild as far as weird Tibetan tantriks go.

is there a spiritual reason for those things to happen?

In my opinionā€¦ No. But enough people like TIbetan Buddhism that I wonā€™t say anything else
