It’s not always on when installed.

Does this mean servitor will automatically do this depending on the situation without the user activation or it need to be activated each time?

You could do both:

• tell your servitor how you want it to automatically use gluttony
• and activate gluttony however you like whenever you like

Depending on what you prefer, you can tell your servitor that manual activation supersede the automatic use, or the other way around.

I suppose there could be even be places of negative energy, where a person would find themselves being drained of energy if they remained there.

If you take the item off, couldn’t the servitor go somewhere with energy (even somewhere with the right energy for what you’re doing, such as planets to get certain planetary energies?), absorb a lot quickly and come back? Or even stream from far away? And as soon as it was ready, you could put the item on again and receive the boost?
