Hello all,
I’ve been away from the forum for a while, so maybe I missed something. When I go to make a purchase on Gumroad, a “tip” is automatically being added to the posted price. What is that about, and is it mandatory? Thanks in advance.
Hello all,

It’s optional for sure.
It’s an option given by Gumroad, can be enabled by creators during checkout.
Creators receive 100% of tips, no gumroad fees on that.
I posted about this elsewhere on the forum
On the right of the checkout window there is an option to set the tip to zero
Thank you. I searched for a posting, but obviously didn’t find it. Sorry.
@Mike_A It’s ok, I couldn’t find it either.
On my phone browser, the option to change the tip amount appears way at the bottom of the page. I never scrolled down that far, aborting the transaction as soon as I saw that Gumroad was messing around with the prices.
You can just choose any amount. I noticed this as well today.
Yes I didn’t notice this a bought many fields with 20% tip, I didn’t understand were all of my money went.
In various spiritual traditions, the act of giving, often referred to as " dāna (दान)" in Buddhism and Hinduism, is a significant practice that embodies the principles of generosity and selflessness. This concept is deeply rooted in the understanding that giving not only benefits the recipient but also cultivates spiritual merit for the giver.
That being said, while mistakenly giving may not carry the same karmic weight as intentional giving, it is still viewed positively. The act of giving, even if accidental in this case, can contribute to the development of a generous mindset.
Dream will always appreciate it.
There is also the 0% button, it works the same way, right?
