Kamalatmika Mahavidya : One of 10 Tantrik Goddesses Of Ancient India

Kamalatmika is the 10th Number Mahavidya in the 10 Mahavidya series of Shaktism ( A sect of ancient India dedicated to worshiping Energy or Shakti).

10 Mahavidyas are incredibly secretive goddesses in Tantra, described to be the 10 aspects of Adishakti or the Primordial Energy. These manifestations range from the most benign and benevolent forms to incredibly ruinous and sinister appearing aspects of Energy manifested to carry out various activities of the universe. The word Maha-vidya means great wisdom, something that transcends the knowledge acquired through 5 senses. Mahavidyas are described as the “Sarvaartha-sadhikas” the ones who can carry out any and all events in the universe and hence they are omnipotent aspects of Energy.

Today we are discussing a rather benevolent and auspicious Mahavidya of Divine Mother known as Kamalatmika. Kamalatmika word means - The soul/ essence of Lotus. Here the word lotus is not only referring to the flower lotus, but in the spiritual language of Tantra Lotus means the innate potency of everything to bloom and blossom into something enthralling and transcendental.

Goddess Kamalatmika is that innate energy within you me and every other entity in the universe to bloom into something greater and more prosperous.
As per the esoteric knowledge of Tantra, everything in the universe has this innate ability, however, the difference lies in the realization of the truth. When you realize this tremendous primordial force within you, your life will inevitably change into something unimaginably excellent.

Iconographical Representation - Lotus is also called - Pankaj means born out of Mud. Loutus flowers can bloom in the most ravenous conditions of rotting and decaying ponds full of mud. However, it is wise enough to draw its nutrition from such an adverse environment and bloom in its full glory and beauty, rising above the mud. Kamalatmika represents exactly this ability which is innate in all organisms.

Every adverse situation which befalls your life is like the Panka (mud) and with the essence of Kamalatmika, you can derive your resources from those environments as well and rise in power and prosperity like a lotus. Lotus leaves and petals are also infamous for secreting a substance that makes it impossible for water and mud to stick to them or touch their inner layers. Similarly one must learn how to be untouched by the external environment like a lotus which is untouched by the mud it grows in.

Every potential to bloom in life is depicted in the form of a Lotus flower including the 7 chakras. In the secret symbolism of Tantra, the ancient Gurus have given the indication that each of these energy centers has the ability to blossom your life into new realms. Hence each chakra is shown as a different petalled lotus ( each petal has a tantric symbolism which we will discuss some other day ).

Mahavidya Kamalatmika hence rules all such domains of life where you can bloom yourself into a much more advanced and prosperous state. The human brain itself is shown as a 1000 petalled lotus in Tantra indicating the possibility of growth there and the governance of Kamalatmika there.

One must remember every adversity and every situation which life throws at you has the potential to bloom you into an excellent being and that potential is innate within you.The person who masters this art gains the epitome of success and luxury in life, and hence Kamalatmika is also the highest manifestation of material success and luxury.

One can also see elephants in the background pouring the Amrit ( Sacred Exiler Of Life) which indicates divine blessings and transcendental knowledge (Amrit) which this Goddess can provide you through her sadhana. The elephants pour the Amrit over her from all the 4 directions showing abundance and success in all domains of life.

However often in life, our thoughts are clouded and our subconscious mind is cluttered and we are unable to attune ourselves to this incredible Goddess who resides within us. For this, the ancient yogis had structured yogic disciples, sadhanas, and various yantras and mantras to awaken this tremendous force within you who can brute force all achievements in all domains of life. Taking the guidance of the right Guru and taking initiation of Kamalatmika Mahaviyda can bring wonderful changes in life.

This is just a small intro to this endlessly vast topic of Mahavidya Kamaltmika. I will be posting about the other 9 Mahavidyas one by one in a series.

Thank you for your patient reading.
