Languages that You Like/Want to Learn Thread

What language(s) you like? And why (if you want to share)?

Well, since I asked the question, I should be the first to give an answer as well; I speak Romanian (as my first or rather native language) and I like my language, but I like other languages more, how they sound, for example French, Italian and Spanish, I like them more (might just be because I’m not using them, :joy:, you know, these languages have that allure, at least for me); I also like English, how it sounds, although I like it much more when I watch a movie or a show, since actors have their way(s) with words.
Practically, I’m bilingual (I know Romanian and English), but I know a few words and I understand more (than a few words) in Spanish and French as well; speaking of languages, I always wanted to learn German, I like it (but I don’t love it), I find it more useful than say Spanish, because of how important the Germanosphere is (economically), at least for Central and Eastern Europe.
Although i like all these languages that I mentioned and others as well (Japanese, because of watching Anime), my favorites (overall) are French and English.
I WOULD HAVE ADDED MORE LANGUAGES, BUT THE MAXIMUM WERE 20, SO THERE YOU GO! I did a mixture of Few Popular Languages + A few of my personal choice (I’m sorry if your favorite language is not on this list!)!
YOU CAN CHOOSE MAXIMUM OF 5 LANGUAGES!

  • English
  • Mandarin Chinese
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Hindi
  • Bengali
  • German

Icelandic, Russian, Japanese and Latin. I don’t speak any of these myself apart from some useful, short touristy phrases. Xhosa sounds lovely and fun, too. Irish (Gaeilge) is wonderful to listen to.

I’ll update this Thread from now on, with some apps and info on my progress with learning other languages besides English (Romanian is my First Language/Mother Tongue, while I learned English as a Foreign Language).

Since I cant possibly learn Spanish, German, French, Italian, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Hindi, Greek, Latin, Japanese, etc. At Once (for most of them I’ll limit it to a beginner level or even just to be acquainted with the language), I’ll obviously start with the most useful ones from this list, the most useful being/meaning the most practical (for me, personally, due to my personal choices and preferences/likes, but also due to the given circumstances - I know Romanian and English, so Romance and Germanic Languages obviously are far easier to learn than other languages), and these are German, Spanish, French and Italian.

I’ll give Maximum Priority to German (besides English, of course, which I can still improve, I mean, I’m not good with tenses/verb forms, actually that’s quite the weak point for me), Medium Priority to Spanish and French and Low Priority to Italian.

I’ll update soon.

If anyone wants to learn Romanian, here’s a somewhat random link:

Also, as I said, I’m continuing with my study of the German language, preferably while also watching all sorts of subjects, and since I have an interest in different cultures/people, watching with German Subtitles is also Good, besides hearing/watching other videos with native Germans speaking of course, or watching Dubbed German Movies with English subtitles.

History is also one of my favorite subjects and I found some good documentaries either in German or with German Subtitles, the channel Kings and Generals being one of my favorites.

I slacked for a while, but I’m starting to get on track again, watching some older and newer cartoons and other shows that are dubbed in German, with English subtitles (sometimes, I even have to watch them not in full screen and with the subtitle opened in Word near, pausing often and reading every line lol; I would have to search and pay to watch these old shows and movies with English subs, so unfortunately I have to use whatever websites I can, for free ), but also movies; anyway, there are 2 ways to learn German (through this medium of shows and movies):

Watch in German dub and with English subs
Or
Watch the original (English) with German Subtitles

Anyway, here are a few clips, to show you how good German sounds when it comes to dubbing:
