They live in places where the cost of living is 4/5’s their salary and have the same expendable income as OP.
omfg, the number of times I had to remind my parents I was a straight-A student, didn’t get drunk for the first time until I was 18, etc…
it’s the damn song sings 8-6-7-5-6-3-0-9
I dunno JAAJ, that sounds pretty egoistic. You should try this stack I keep hearing about - The self-love stack
I’ve always been curious, is that actually a thing or just a meme or is it so much of a thing it became a meme?
I feel like most cat owner memes boil down to “I forgot my cat can’t be expected to do anything close to behaving. This is absolutely an abusive relationship and yes, I am a victim of Stockholm Syndrome. Please send more catnip.”
Sure we do, it’s the unit of temperature measurement where if you want to track a slight change in temperature, you’re either screwed or the kid who’s supposedly sensitive enough to feel .01 degrees.
Fahrenheit is dumb, this is not a rant to defend it. However, Celsius is dumb in different ways but makes up for it with 2 things: ease of application, and the equivalent of a measurement ecosystem. That’s it.
That is to say, Celsius is great for objective/scientific measurement. Fahrenheit is great for subjective measurement. If anyone had stopped fapping about with their egos back in the day, we might have a unit that was pretty good at both as a compromise.
So other people do it too? I’m not the only one? sighs in 9 parts
Holy hell I reached the end.
Sorry for the response spam there for a while, wasn’t considering how that would pile up (and thought the replies were coming in faster).
You went through the entire meme thread?
yup, started as an “I wonder what everyone was joking about during the height of covid” thing, then it became a “Wouldn’t it be funny if I read the whole thing”… and then it became a challenge xD
It is a thing but depends on the individual person and which fields are looped.
Actually not.
We have Kelvin for that.
The best unit in my opinion.
It is also a SI base unit.
This is serious competition for Gen Z memes
lol, I thought about this after I posted it. Ok sure, Kelvin for scientific. I suppose I meant, at the time, that Celsius is fine if you’re experimenting from “death from cold exposure” to “death from heat exposure”, just kinda sucks at “Is it it just me or does the room feel a little warmer than normal? oh look at that, the thermostat is up by 2 hundredths of a degree, let me fix that”
I don’t know which country you are in but here in Germany the thermostats are labeled in a foolproof way from 0 to 5.
0 means off.
5 means maximum heat.
Even my underfloor heating has regulators from 0 to 5.
…that would be 0.005 degrees
Yes, hyperbole and all that xD
That’s cool about the 0-5. Any arguments over the thermostat? “It’s too hot, it’s too cold?”
I’m in the USA and office culture has a love-hate relationship with thermostats that let you select roughly 15.6 - 29.4 degrees C as is. Someone’s always freezing, and someone’s always sweating, and a 5 degree (2.8 ish C) change seems to be worthy of petitions and meetings.
Me: I see a bright future, for everyone.
