I’m looking for some legal advice regarding a police officer who is threatening me on Facebook.
An American police officer has threatened me by claiming to have found my IP address and will be finding out more information about me because (wait for it)… I had expressed my opinion on his favourite celebrity having had plastic surgery.
I explained my reasoning for this, as well as evidence.
However, he has taken this very personally for some weird reason.
Then he proceeded to call me wrinkly etc…
I started there was no way for him to know as my profile is private and I don’t post pictures of myself online.
He said he “went down a rabbit hole” and found my IP address and has all that information he needs now and will be reporting me for lying about this celebrity that he loves so much.
I live in another country and I find this all so absurd. I haven’t broken any laws, just stated a fact and now he’s claiming to use his police technology to find information out about me.
Surely this is illegal and he has no right to try and intimidate me this way?
Of course, this is provoking anxiety as people like him are very unpredictable and could fabricate anything.
I don’t know what to do at this stage.
Can anyone offer advice?
Thanks!
