Need legal advice

I’m looking for some legal advice regarding a police officer who is threatening me on Facebook.

An American police officer has threatened me by claiming to have found my IP address and will be finding out more information about me because (wait for it)… I had expressed my opinion on his favourite celebrity having had plastic surgery.
I explained my reasoning for this, as well as evidence.
However, he has taken this very personally for some weird reason.
Then he proceeded to call me wrinkly etc…
I started there was no way for him to know as my profile is private and I don’t post pictures of myself online.
He said he “went down a rabbit hole” and found my IP address and has all that information he needs now and will be reporting me for lying about this celebrity that he loves so much.

I live in another country and I find this all so absurd. I haven’t broken any laws, just stated a fact and now he’s claiming to use his police technology to find information out about me.
Surely this is illegal and he has no right to try and intimidate me this way?

Of course, this is provoking anxiety as people like him are very unpredictable and could fabricate anything.
I don’t know what to do at this stage.

Can anyone offer advice?

Thanks!

It’s near 100% a scammer
Does he want money as compensation?

Because if this is real, i am pretty sure, he would have his police license revoked very quickly

He didn’t want any money, just claiming he is going to track me down for my comment on it all.
As he’s overseas, what power does he have over something so ridiculous? Wouldn’t that cost them a lot of money?
I haven’t done anything illegal, but apparently agreeing with the post about the cosmetic surgery, I am breaking the law because I lied about said celebrity.
I’m so confused! I’ve never even heard that before.
Apparently people need a court order to do this?

The story is entirely made up and you can report him to Facebook, hopefully they’ll take his account down

Thank you, I found it all very bizarre that a police officer would go on to harass someone in another country and claim to track them down because they disagreed about something he had a personal opinion on.
It was very odd!!

I agree, sounds like a scammer and made up story! Scammers play with your fear by making threats and often what comes next is them asking you for money.
I would report to Facebook, as recommended above and also block that account!

there are not very healthy people among the police. as well as among those who appear to be policemen.

Report it to Facebook.

According to what u wrote u did nothing illegal.

Its most likely a teenage fan of this celebrity, that wants to scare u because he/she disagrees with u.

As others have posted block this person.

Exactly…
Imo, scammers are appalling and pure entropy

Unfortunately this was my worry. Gangstalking can be quite a big thing amongst these types.

Sounds like this! Their responses were very immature.
I don’t know how I always end up entertaining weirdos lol!
It’s just the messed up nonsense that they’re capable of that worries me.

May be good to realize that you are not a victim of this mindset. You are the iridescent bubble bobbing up and down on the placid waters of protection and peace.

This is beautiful, thank you so much. I needed this reminder

idk why, but, it sounds like a 10-yr-old messaging you on your x-box IM saying that my dad knows bill gates and I will get your account banned.
