You can turn off invites by changing channel permissions to disallow invite links. The discord server must be locked down asap if its out of hand rn. Also its possible to block or auto remove discord invite links on the server.
I dont recommend sending invite links out to public so suddenly knowing the masses. Reset and remove the links asap until the foundations are met

Worst case you get spammers and hackers there. Discord has some pretty annoying exploits.

Yes there are indeed great servers. They’re ones with a dedicated system in place to where no one would dare break the rules… bc if they do… they get banned or warned and get muted
Ah… dream created the server and I wasn’t around for him to mod me. I don’t even have a discord lol.
But I do know that discord tends to harbor a lot of toxicity. And unless there is someone to mod all the time, then it isn’t gonna go well. It’s a big responsibility that takes too much time and I’d have to really trust your moral ground.
That takes time for me tgain that trust too. Cause you’ll be representing us out there and I’ve come to learn in modding, that your ego always ends up getting forced to the surface in more ways than one. Nothing against anyone here. I juat barely trust myself in moderating fairly so it’s hard for me to trust others to be honest.
So I don’t know about the discord for now. I don’t have the time to be a part of it if I’m honest. If I was mod, I’d jump in and do what needs to be done. But at the moment, if I join, I’d just argue with people who are in a state of so much self hate, that they want to project it on to others.
I’m already getting the forum problem fixed so it should stop turning off. It was an issue from the host of our server. So it’s being resolved as we speak.
As for discord, I’ll talk to dream bout it soon.

Another possible way -for those who prefer to keep Discord - would be to let trusted members have their own community in place (self sovereign). Fan-made / fan-based ‘family’ in a sense but only for those active on the forums instead of being ‘massively’ public. So it’s not ‘official’ - ‘professional’ and can be (IS) more quiet, specialized, and with genuine people with much less chaos and pressure. There’s no need to put such stress as the official mod behind the community when you have trust and discernment in / on / with genuine people who have been there supporting you guys
My exp & opinion
I have about more than 5 years of experience using Discord. It’s vast and more niche and has huge potential and can give us more oppurtunities to bring in potentially a lot more of the younger audiences (future generation) upfront as well as experience more freeflowing communication and wider perspective… and more i want to say… Honestly I wish that Element (Riot - alternative look-alike to Discord but more privacy friendly and modifiable and self hostable)
Or keep it public but only for those who are at a certain level of monthly payment on patreon… ‘gate’ levels. More support = more openness of interaction etc but at that point its like adding a cherry-on-top-marketing-tactic and can potentially weed out a lot of people - and kids
Well, to be honest, I have discord but I haven’t used in ages, never really knew how to use it (well, now I have some links posted by Maoshan here, plus if I really want, I can learn, but not for now), except for a few interactions; I’ll stick with the forum, at least for now!
Anyway, this is a good alternative/option besides the forum, but it can be/become chaotic (and even a bit fun), as @anon36260187, @Maoshan_Wanderer, @Josh, @Dyslexic_Professor, @Gnosticmedic27, @pranic_climber and others have already mentioned/discussed.

It can only become chaotic if it’s not managed well enough in ‘congruence’ to the crowd population and ‘gate-keeped’ optimally. I have experience in being in massive community Discord servers that are well managed. In other words there must be enough people in the roles of being staff as well as coverage of activity levels (timezone difference compensations) and dedication to the cause for this to work well for the massive numbers who view Nemo’s content - or keep it small and fan-based like i said above
