I would like some movies and TV shows to explore the idea of rapid aging in the general populace, for whatever reasons/due to whatever causes, with the protagonist and maybe a few other characters being the only one(s) to age normally (under our current standards for aging) or maybe the protagonist is aging far slower than our (current) average; all sorts of themes and conflicts, internal/mental/spiritual and external could find their presence in such a script/scenario; now, there are many possibilities how this can go - I personally think a show could explore more in depths such a story.

Is there any such movie or show already existant?

And What do you think about such a scenario?

Also, what scenarios would you like to see?

This tends not to be a movie topic for a number of reasons. You will see an episode of a space opera show where the cast is suddenly aged by X but retain just enough will or life force to implode engines and reverse time.

There is one stargate SG-1 episode about that, but wonā€™t tell u which :wink:

Iā€™d like to see the original writers pick up Heroes where they left it off at the end of season 1 and keep going. They were exploring the implications of super powers and didnā€™t seem afraid of writing what could happen. After the writerā€™s strike everyone got nerfed. Everything stayed comparitively safe and predictable after that.

Some credit to the replacement writers though. They did seem to do better as the show went on and became more explorative with the possibilities. But the originals still dwarfed them imo.

Show us what happens when things do get out of hand. Show what someone really could do with these powers. Because itā€™s about scratching a creative itch for the viewer. Or it could be.

Have you seen the movie The Man from Earth? It is not exactly about your interest here but the protagonist doesnā€™t look beyond the age of 35 but is a very very old man.

It is a very nice scifi movie which makes you think what if you live for thousands of years. I tend to watch it once in few months or a year.

Hmm, the main idea sounds like this:

There is an interesting sword which someone (maybe a Samurai or the story can be placed in Medieval Europe or a fictional version of any of those) finds and canā€™t take their eyes of it.

That someone takes it (now, where that someone finds that sword, it can be anywhere) and finds himself (or herself or yeah, use your own imagination) in a hypnotic trance, heā€™s glued to the sword.

Heā€™s called to his duty (itā€™s war time and the lord has made a call to all able men and women to do their duty and defend their homeland), his Lord summons him to defend his/their land from invaders, some savage neighboring tribes, which recently arrived in the vicinity, and he accepts, he answers the call, despite being a thief and a murderer.

YET, Why did he do it?
Why choose honor, when he didnā€™t live by any code of honor before?

What is the mysterious sword and why has it changed his heart?

Now, you can go anywhere and add a lot of stuff to this plot, make it much more complex, add some fictional history, some context to the place and time and the events and the characters presented hereā€¦

About the Sword and The Title:

There used to live a warrior in the same land, a long time ago, and he lived by the code of honor of their land, he did not disappoint his ancestors, yet, one day he broke an oath and due to him not doing his duty, their land was pillaged, countless innocents died, and he never was the same from that day.
He pleaded with the Gods, to save his soul, and they sealed him in a sword fallen from The Heavens.
That sword should be used only for honorable purposes and it will create a special bond with its wielder, Strengthening them, to do their duty and never break their oaths.
