Pronunciation of Gayatri Mantra

Hi I found a few different ways sometimes they only differ in details like Bhuvah or Bhuvaha but would probably change a lot so I’d like to ask if anyone of you knows the right way to pronounce it.

I came to know that one has to get initiated from a Guru for Gayatri mantra at a very young age, with other exceptions. If Guru wishes anything is possible.
It’s said that Gayatri mantra is the most powerful mantra! Most of the times wrong pronunciation brings improper or no results.
Even within Gayatri there seems to be many versions, the most known is the one we find in web. But I heard from a tantric that the Original Gayatri mantra is still kept secret, and passed down through Guru parampara(lineage).
Don’t mind If this isn’t the kind of reply u r looking for.

Happy way to get the benefits is Tapasya of Savitur if u ask me.

Can women also use the Tapasya of savitur? Since some people say women shouldn’t chant the Gayatri mantra.

That’s the best thing with Dream, anyone can use.

Haha yeah but I get it. Would be sad though If all these people would waste their time chanting something meaningless. It is understandable though If they want to preserve the tradition of the mantra.

Thanks for sharing omnjy but what credibility does that video have? for example another om is added from what is commonly seen.

They are authentic channel. They are from South India Vedic tradition. I follow them from years, and did recommend couple of times here.

The formula of Gayatri depends on which branch of the Veda one belongs to - the lineage of initiation from one’s ancestry.

Based on this:

  • The formation of the mantra itself changes
  • The pronunciation and enunciation change

Below are four common variations according to:

  • Rgveda
  • Krshna Yajurveda
  • Shukla Yajurveda
  • Samaveda

Thank You, Maoshan.
You are full of knowledge.

Is there a particular one that you recommend (only if it’s OK to share)?
Can anyone repeat them?

For common use without initiation, I would suggest the third video in the list above!

Anyone who does not have a Guru can just pray to Shiva (the form I invoke as Panchamukha Dakshinamurti is below), accept him as Guru, and recite the mantra. This is especially true if one does mantras for spiritual upliftment or out of sheer love for God/Goddess… If used for material purposes (as in manifesting specific outcomes), then a lot of rules come into play.

This is true however for benign mantras only - like Gayatri, Namah Shivaya, Hare Krishna, etc.

Tantric mantras like Kali, Durga, etc., I would tread very cautiously. People initially get excited due to the surge of energy but without proper training and process, one may experience Kundalini deviations, metaphysical challenges, unexplained misfortune, etc.

I have yet to find a spiritual being who didn’t want a relationship. I think most of the time the idea that initiation is required is ridiculous, and has been used by humans for gatekeeping this stuff for far too long.

I’ve been relying heavily on the Ghanapati channel to learn vedic mantras, and what a relief to know it is endorsed by @Maoshan_Wanderer Their videos are beautiful and the chants just feel otherworldly…pleasure to listen to

Does the mahamrityunjaya mantra count as one of the “benign” mantras Maoshan? I’ve been chanting the mantra almost daily after learning it from the Ghanpati youtube channel.
