Only a truthful post fight interview will let us know for sure lol …
I was thinking earlier how I think Canelo isn’t the same any more
And how I used to view him as a fighter that wanted only the best over money, for legacy and greatness
At least, that’s how I grew up seeing him
But then now I think he’s more about money than legacy,
Maybe as he knows he’s on the tail end of his career and his legacy and greatness is already established …
This fight speaks greatness to me though
A great length
It’s not GGG vs Canelo heavy in greatness
But it’s sturdy
Yeah Floyd had problems with people creating angles and applying lots of pressure
Pacquiaos prime would’ve really gave him trouble
But I think… Floyd would’ve got him in both of their primes
He would’ve lost the first 4 rounds I think
Round 4-5 would’ve been closer to a coin toss
But then the rest might have been Floyd’s
But then I stop and think about the later half of the fight… Even if Floyd’s winning Pacquiao still would’ve just let it all go, even he’s getting beat badly… Which would trouble Floyd because usually people get adjusted when Floyd makes adjustments
Because they don’t wanna get played into an ass whooping doing the same thing over and over again
He sure wasn’t searching him out either . Had years and years of opportunity to make that fight happen. It would’ve been the superfights of all superfights. Astronomical payday. So in my mind the fact that it didn’t happen tells me someone wasn’t too keen on stepping into that ring
I remember all of that. I don’t know man, when there’s a will there’s a way. When there isn’t, there are a lot of excuses as to why you can’t do something. That goes for just about everything in life
Don’t get me wrong, Mayweather is obviously brilliant and a master of his craft. He just wasn’t one to want to mix things up and that rubbed a lot of the boxing purists the wrong way.
I don’t blame him for wanting his money and still having brains left to enjoy it at the end of his career.
