hmm, well that diagram proposes that our psyche and everyone elseās psyche are a part of a greater, collective consciousness. But my point of showing you that diagram was to show you that our mind has many parts, which contribute to our thoughts.
for example, our anima/animus represents either the masculine in the woman or the feminine in the man. a man who thinks himself a big bravo tough man will believe he needs to repress his feminine thoughts, which leads to him repressing his anima (feminine side) into the shadow. From the shadow, his anima will influence his thoughts / dreams without his conscious intention.
so anything about ourself that we repress will show up in our thoughts and dreams from the āshadowā.
directing the psyche to focus itās psychic energy towards the āselfā is a way of describing the process, or a process within, āself-realisationā. What i describe could also be seen as a version of connecting with our higher self.
What else is there to do other than self realisation? it is our highest purpose. by definition it is realising our personal potential. it is deeply fulfilling.
evolution i suppose. we evolve to better adapt to our environment.
