I can see why it may have been interpreted that way. But anyone who knows you at all would know that you didn’t mean it harshly.
When I saw the user’s original comment I thought maybe he was experiencing detox due to a high viral load. But it could also be a troll post. Hard to say.

And yes, the ‘okay’ could be interpreted as condescending as if the other one is dumb
But that shouldn’t stop anyone engaging in an open conversation. Sadly there are people (I’m thinking fact checkers) who will select a person, check their entire online history and if they find even one tiny thing you have done or written online years and decades ago, you shall be cancelled. It’s the epitome of separation. Aside from that, people seem to love being offended just so they can play the victim role and get more attention.

Knowing you a little, it will be clear from your response that you are receiving things from this comment (and beyond) that may not be visible to others.
This kind of situation seems difficult to ‘win’. Had you ignored the statement, people would have assumed things and probably complained about your silence. Now you responded, and again, complaining and assuming. As they say, “you cannot please everyone”.
I’m sorry you need to deal with trolls, and people who do not reflect a bit more first and then are flat out rude.
