The term “Gaslighting” (meaning gaslight) comes from a play and later a movie. In the script, the husband convinced his wife that the kerosene lamp was burning the same way as yesterday, although every day he turned down the fire a little bit. In the same way, he discreetly changed something in the house, and convinced his wife that it seemed to her. As a result, the woman began to doubt her own adequacy and thought she was going mad.
This is a form of psychological abuse that people almost never notice. Sow the seeds of doubt to change your perception of reality. The easiest form is daily and ubiquitous advertising convincing you that using their product will improve your life. You are subtly led to believe that you are missing something in your life. And now it is no longer you, but the advertising that makes the decision for you.
More complex and sophisticated gaslighting comes from politicians, the media and other sources. It is extremely important and profitable for them that you underestimate yourself, sit in one place and do not jump above your head. For this purpose, they imperceptibly form in you insecurity, low self-esteem. They make you believe that “It’s good that we are not in America”, that your salary is very good, that everything is wonderful in your country and you are terribly lucky to be where you are. Even the strongest personalities can’t resist this kind of covert influence on the crowd.
A separate category should be distinguished people who will do everything possible to break you, to shake your faith in yourself. To what end? In order for you to remain at their level and do not strive for the best. In the environment of any person there are such gaslighters.
This field will strengthen your own perception of reality. Your subconscious mind will be able to resist gaslighting and reject any manipulative messages from the outside. Don’t be surprised if you begin to spontaneously enter the Here and Now moment - this is one of the indicators that your consciousness is being released.
