Is that a girl or a boy? Anyways, does not matter, from the 5 minutes that I have listened into the video, this person has zero understanding of how the economy works (and progress of society) and he/she lives in their own academic pseudo-intellectual bubble. Probably also has never yet worked a real job in their life… (all my personal opinion)

May i ask what problems in particular you had with the first 5 minutes? Firstly, she disclaims that this essay is purely from an american point of view, not about other countries. And from what i’ve heard, this backs up Iain Mcgilchrist’s research on brain lateralisation, which is empirical.

Do you not agree that we would benefit from less money driven goals, and more towards the good of humanity? From what i understand, her critique is there is an imbalance between the humanities in university compared to science, tech, engineering and math degrees, which looks like a society with less spiritual wholeness and more emphasis on money/careers

  1. We actually don’t have enough STEM focus in universities. That’s why human technological progress is so slow and we are still not on Mars yet. Too much money is wasted on bullshit agendas. Which brings me to point number 2:

  2. The humanities focus that is there is almost completely “Agenda” and has actally nothing to do with humanity.
It is also completely detached from actual spirituality.
This “Agenda” in most cases is those pseudo-intellectuals non-spirituals indulding in their own mental masturbation and then acting from a moral high-ground and trying to teach the whole world how to live, while themselves living off of government funds. The very definition of parasites.
In the video, one can very clearly hear the moral high-ground undertone of the person in their voice. Where they pretend that they are “just asking questions”, while in reality they are pushing an agenda.

  3. Money represents a means to exchange value between people.
The moneys goes where people see the value for them.
Since society as a whole is not spiritual, a lot of money goes into all kinds of bullshit, including the above mentioned agendas (and of course systemic parasites have to defend this agenda so that they can continue to receive funding from society).
But at least with STEM, it creates technological advancements which make life easier for most people in the longterm.
What humanity needs, combined with STEM, is true spirituality, not “humanities” and other agendas.

  4. The person in the video does not understand how value is created, hence does not understand the process of money and value exchange, hence discusses and theorizes about symptoms of things, instead of understanding their underlying mechanics.

in the purest sense, the humanities is the study of humans on an individual, societal and cultural level. It is true that the elite may use these subjects to push out there agendas.

i disagree that these subjects are detached from spirituality. In fact, the humanities includes ancient philosophies that discuss metaphysics and philosophies like non dualism and idealism: a philosophy that believes all of reality depends on the mind (in other words, they believe the universe is consciousness).

to understand our modern and historical societies and cultures, and to understand our individual psychology, is undeniably important. you can think of it as a collective shadow work. we analyse our past mistakes academically to figure out what not to do in and what is best to do

philosophy is contained within the humanities, and so for our society to practice spirituality, we must study philosophy and all it’s supporting subjects, i.e the rest of ‘the humanities’

What? That’s a strange remark. Please do not make such comments about people if it doesn’t even matter.

Probably also has never yet worked a real job in their life

Also a strange judgemental remark of this complete stranger based on what, five minutes?

If we make it to Mars and think and judge others like so, what would be the point. To make Earth shithole 2.0?

Your second point where you explained your issues is great because you actually expounded on your thoughts clearly. However, all I’ve said is my personal opinion

Yeah, i thought maybe the first step to ascending to the 5d would be a constructive dialogue, but oh well

It’s a good video, a little rough around the edges, but so many YouTube commentators started off making videos that look hers before they got better equipment and became more polished. And it’s impressive that she has the time to go to school and edit YouTube videos!

I wrote the paragraph below before I watched the video you posted, it’s funny how it touches on many of the same subjects! Also, some people are more willing to watch educational content if it’s funny too (and if “the right type” of people are presenting it…).

This YouTube video focuses on the United States college system (aka University System as it is called in some other countries), but if you’re interested in why there’s such an anti-intellectual (mainly focused on the humanities and Gen Ed programs) push in the US by a certain cohort of politicians, it’s a fairly good explanation. The “Death of Humanities” and “Anti-Intellectualism” go hand in hand IMO. The guy in the video used to have a show called “Adam Ruins Everything” and his YouTube is like a continuation of the show, his style can be a little abrasive if you’re not used to it! It’s also sad how people will resort to ad hominem attacks if they don’t like the subject matter.

I couldn’t watch the video straight through. Skipped ahead and there were no real surprises.

I didn’t mind the speaker. She seems earnest and sincere. Supporting her Patreon and watching her videos is probably a cheaper, more effective way of learning progressive ideology than getting a four year degree in the humanities.

Personally, I like Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History podcast but to each their own.

Mohammed Ali was a boxer. but he was very much vocal on civil Rights and racial justice. Opposed war, stood his ground and stripped off his title.

You don’t have to get a major in liberal arts to stand for what’s right to create a better world.

And,

Why should society provide incentive to get a humanities degree?
Or a high paying job?
This doesn’t make any sense.
The monetary value of a person isn’t based on how righteous he/she is. That is indeed why engineers, doctors, scientists and business grads are well paid despite they are flawed individuals or not.

Here in the video,

She quotes, “Great thinkers, challenge the existing systems in place”. The key word here is “Great thinkers”.

Great thinkers will understand the consequence of their actions, before taking the action.
Look at the condition we are at right now. People teach 5-year-olds to choose their own gender. promoting shit to Children in school.

there are several problems going on at the same time.

many post-modern & post-structuralist philosophers were right, but at the same time people weren’t able to understand the complexity of the issue they were trying to share.

yes, everything is ideological. but trying to create an anti-ideology is just another form of ideology. lgbtq+ is an example of this anti-ideology that becomes another form of ideology.

is like trying to say that you escaped binarism because you identify yourself as non-binary. now you’re opposing binarism with non-binarism. it’s another binarism.

then, capitalism is rooted in a form of discourse that allows people to ignore most of social determinations in the name of freedom.

people believe to be free, and that’s the worst form of ideology because it obturates the fact that you’re determinated in multiples ways you don’t even began to understand.
