I started doing that in high school. There was a guy saying anti-Semitic jokes and I was like 
« I’m Jewish » boom. I wanted to see if he would stick with his rhetoric, but he collapsed. People started booing him
I can’t resist.
Btw, It’s not the first time I tell you that you need to be ready to stick with it if you play the jerk. You can’t just apologize your way out. Otherwise be smart and think before you talk and it backfires

Nah I don’t fully agree with this. I usually stand by what I say unless the circumstances change. If your mother was dead, I would take back that joke. I don’t think anyone should carry on being a jerk under those circumstances.

Yup and in that example I stand by what I said.
You insisted on making that joke, than you apologized, than people criticized your « hypocrisy » you insisted that your apology was sincere a few more times. Then weeks later you went back to sticking with your joke.
