It’s not real, it doesn’t exist so you can’t possibly have it.
Attention Deficit = you don’t have enough focus
Hyperactive disorder= you move around too much
It’s a diagnosis, not an actual condition.
Let’s say I have a flu and I sneeze a lot, I can’t focus and technically I move when I sneeze. Do I have ADHD. Of course not, it needs to be observed long term. What if I have a chronic flu or itch ? Do I now have an itch-induced ADHD ?
That’s not anymore silly than the ADHD claim itself.
If you are impulsive, if you have "difficulty’ focusing, then you must be in this community of people having the same hardship… you know… hard to focus, move a lot, can’t resist their impulses.
Do animals have ADHD ? Do Apes have ADHD ? If they show the same performance ?
Should we label chimps with this ADHD disease ?
No, it’s relative. We have to compare your “results” and if you’re outside of the “normal” for your group, then you have it. Because you know, we’re all equal blankslate and if you underperform relatively to your peers then you must have a disease that must be cured.
Cause you know, that’s how the world works. We’re all the same twin-looking people, same height, same color, same personalities, equal constant mountains of proteins with no variance whatsoever.
what is it, a bell curve ? ugh
At least there is some testing and metrics, data right ?
It’s objective, scientific. Not some hippie dippie bullshit label right ?
Well, yes.
But mostly… NO.
Step 1: “Behavioral assessment”
Your highly qualified mommy or teacher or counselor will answer this beautiful questionnaire, we’re talking peak scientific accuracy here.
Does Billy fails to give attention to details ? Never. Sometimes. Often. Very often.
Does Billy have difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities ? Never. Sometimes. Often. Very often.
Does Billy forgets stuff like papers, directions ? Never. Sometimes. Often. Very often.
If mommy or whoever does this for you, might be a therapist you pay by the hour and his expected to deliver a diagnosis gets you a score above or 60 by counting the sometimes, often, very often answers. Then you’re borderline ADHD.
Why don’t we use this method more often for everything ? Forget the space programs, this is how you do it right.
Step 2: Neuropsychological Tests
This is more elaborated.
You will take a standardized test to measure your performance designed to best measure the aptitudes at play.
If you score below average, then you’re closer to earning the ADHD label.
Keep in mind that traits and characteristics are distributed in populations in patterns that often lead to a bell curve. That is normal and to be expected.
Just because you are short, doesn’t mean you have a diseases. People aren’t equals. Not all the same height, color, intelligence, psychological traits, environments, age.
You are healthy or sick, above average or below average based on where you fall and most of these traits are going to be genetic but don’t make you sick. We have natural diversity.
Now, you’ll get the “not-IQ-test” and fall below average “not-mentally-retarded” but “ADHD Provisional”.
You scored below average which is expected and normal because some people are above average, others need to be below.
So we skip to step 3 and hang on, it’s a beauty.
Step 3: Diagnosis by exclusion
Now, we scan your brain to see the ADHD.
Lmao
No, we don’t scan your brain lol
Nothing objective like that.
We exclude other potential causes, using the same assessments and standardized tests that are considered scientific cause, there’s nothing better yet.
So once we exclude the other learning disabilities and what not that are on our list.
Then by exclusion, if it’s not something else, it’s ADHD. It must be it, if it’s not something else, then it must be ADHD.
Now, let’s get you on meds.
That’s the professional method, most people sef-diagnose on the internet which is even less reliable…
After 130 years of research on the subject. That’s how we diagnose it.
It’s just another buzzword marketed by the same snake oil conman drug dealers who create opioid epidemics to push their narcotics sales up by lobbying and “educating” physicians.
What are the causes of ADHD ?
ADHD can be caused by Chemical, Biological and Environmental factors.
But… Everything is chemical, from your shoes, teeth, clothes, cars, fuel, TVs.
Biological, well yeah, but it’s about you, you are human and have a body so it’s biological.
Environmental, you mean, outside the body ?
Thanks for nothing
I’m a good sport though, so let’s dive deeper.
Studies says that these can lead to ADHD:
Poverty. Cause, being poor gives you this sickness.
Doing drugs. Cool cool
Parenting styles. That’s interesting.
Birth Complications: Premature birth, low birth weight, and complications during delivery can contribute to the development of ADHD.
Early Childhood Adversity: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), such as neglect, abuse, and household dysfunction, can impact brain development and increase the risk of ADHD.
Gut-Brain Axis: The connection between the gut microbiota and brain function, known as the gut-brain axis, suggests that imbalances in gut bacteria may influence neurological development and behavior.
Heavy Metals: Exposure to heavy metals like lead, mercury, and cadmium can impact brain development and contribute to ADHD symptoms.
Pesticides: Organophosphate pesticides have been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD.
Pollution: Air pollution and exposure to environmental pollutants may have neurotoxic effects that contribute to ADHD.
Sleep Disorders: Conditions like sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and chronic sleep deprivation can contribute to ADHD-like symptoms.
Social Isolation: Lack of social interaction and stimulation in early childhood can impact cognitive and behavioral development
Genetic factors.
Family History: ADHD tends to run in families, suggesting a genetic component. Children with a parent or sibling with ADHD are more likely to develop the condition
Genes from your parents, poverty, abuse, bad diet, video games, pesticides, gut bacterias, parentings styles, drug abuse and many many more.
Geez, what is not responsible for ADHD ?
So you have a disease that can only be diagnosed by with questionnaires and excluding other diseases and that can be caused by anything that influences you. What about bad chakras ? Entities ? Curses ? I’m sure it plays a role.
Remember the symptoms are that 1. you don’t or can’t focus enough, 2. you move too much all that relatively to other people.
What is the healthy attention span for an average adult homo-sapien ?
8 secondes.
Now let’s add to that a distribution of attention span, some healthy variance. Not everyone will have an 8 second attention span, some people are naturally better, use performance enhancers, do meditation and read lots of books, they inflate the average. So what’s healthy ?
6 secondes ? 5 secondes ? 4.5 secondes ?
Is it 5 seconds with lot of rest, a belly full in a quiet room focusing on something interesting ?
Does it go lower if you’re hungry and sleep only 5 hours a night ?
Maybe you’re distracted by an attractive person next to you. Or is it a strong smell ?
What about with an internet addiction, a phone vibrating in your pocket with the sounds of cars outside ?
What if you really don’t care about what you’re focusing on but need to ?
Because you need the grade that will one day be in your file that will one day be used to get into a school, to one day get a diploma, that will one day get you a job, that will on day pay your rent ?
What if the content is too complicated to understand ?
Homo-sapiens are the best at focusing and controlling their impulse.
But as a species they’re still terrible at it
Why do we even care ?
People didn’t care before. Only the mighty and powerful used to have books. Only they learned how to read. These people naturally and artificially selected for intelligence who also had servants and serfs providing for their every need only produced a handful of giga-chad geniuses.
Most of us come from peasant gene stock and are not descendants of Archimede.
Not too long ago, there was no school, barely a few books and newspapers. Children took care of their cattle, chopped wood and played.
But now we are in the Information age, lot of automation, lot of intellectual work. It’s a competition. We have too much informations, it’s cliché that stock brokers do cocain to stay focused, cops drink, sillicon valley tycoons microdose LSD. Children go to pre-school, school, after-school. We ned to master not just reading, but math, statistics, information is everywhere. we’re dealing with health crisis, loneliness epidemics. Obesity, internet addictions, sugar addictions, porn addictions.
Schools are selecting based on intelligence (at least they should be), we need to stay updated. Everything is live 24/7, even after the sunset, we keep going with artificial light.
People didn’t care before. Now we’re all being tested and selected for our cognitive abilities so everyone’s hope and fears revolve around their performances.
We also have industries based on curing us, an ideology who sees everyone has equals or otherwise suffering of deficits, beauty deficit, height deficits or we’re oppressed.
We’re witnessing our limits as we all compete everyday to burnouts. Cognitive skills are now the most valuable ressources. Especially so in meritocracies (good thing IMO but that’s beside the point).
Also we have armies of Phd’s and brands fighting for our attention spans, using habit engineering to hook us up, social engineering our brain into behaviors that are beneficial for them.
What is focus ?
Focus is an emergent ability.
It is emergent because you need good genes, receptors, health, a good environment, a good emotional state, a good diet. You need a lot of things to go right to be able to channel your mental energy in a clear direction. All working together well enough. If you are wounded or sick, your body is made so that it will distract you, guide your attention to these issues.
It is an ability, a subtractive ability to filter distractions, impulses to channel all your mental ressources toward one thing. When you focus on something, you ignore everything else. That’s how it works.
But we have more and more things to filter out and ignore than ever before.
Bad health, bad emotional state are creating distractions.
A good quiet room makes it easier so that you have less to filter out.
We have never had as many distractions as today and we’ve never been more hooked on things.
We are producer and consumers. We need attention to produce, but we need other’s attention to benefit from our productions. We need balance. We have not evolved for this environment.
Intensive focus, prolonged focus are skills that are not inherent in humans.
You have to learn to focus. Meditation, chess, whatever.
But we also have a culture and environment that wires us for short attention spans, multitasking, superficial analysis and quick dopamine breaks.
This is becoming one of the biggest most valuable assets we all obsess about, our superheros are geniuses, as a whole we worship technology.
If you want to focus you have to take care of the specific things that detract from your focus.
If it is desensitised receptors, re-sensitize them.
If it is bad diet, fix your diet.
If you are addicted to social media, music, food, porn or whatever. Clear that.
Brain fields and focus
Once you have taken care of your basics, your health, emotional state and you can access your focus. Fields like Elysian Focus provide the short-cut to the ultimate intensive and prolonged focus. But you have to be able to access that focus.
We provide tools like Advantageous Brain Plan, Brain game etc. To facilitate the real deficits you may have.
But we can’t make a field for a disease called ADHD that doesn’t exist and would require us to fix poverty, liver health, gut bacterias, neuro-receptors, your sleep patterns, provides a quiet environment, addiction removal, impulse control and 1 million other things.
The original Attention and Focus field on youtube already provides a great improvement in attention and focus, it can help overcome a lot and compensate for symptoms you may have, but you need to know which issue it is you have.
ADHD is a BS buzzword invented by snake oil conman drug dealers to push their narcotics and get funding for research. It’s not a condition. It’s a vague diagnosis by exemption. And they lobbied and “educated” physicians with this easy answer that doesn’t help. It’s a liability thing to give drugs that have serious side effects but would still improve focus for anyone else.
Whatever your issue is, Elysian focus provides more focus. Period.
It doesn’t cure an imaginary disease called ADHD.
It re-wires your brain to be able to focus to a frankly above human level. That’s its goal.
You could have the best focus in the world, it would be hard to focus bleeding out from a bullet in your stomach or from fried dopamine receptors. There is too many random things that can’t block your focus. It’s up to you to have a real specific diagnosis. Then use or request appropriate, biologically actionable fields.
