I just did a huge mistake in the past week. It did cost me my job.
I forgot to tell my chefs in person about an upcoming surgery, which I had on Monday 11th I did notify the ones who are my direct contact person: my tutor and the branch manager.
The branch manager is responsible for the work schedule.
I was noted down on sick leave in the work schedule.
I was released Thursday 14th. Where I live you get the disability leave on the day when you’re released. I send the branch manager a picture of this. The doctor wrote me down as sick until September 25th
On Saturday I got mail where it’s said that I am fired as of now.
Apparently they wrote it on Friday 15th
I tried to reach my chefs and one of them told me on the phone that it’s because I apparently didn’t notify or tell anyone about that big surgery - which is not true!
I send them a protocol of who and when I told people about it …
He agreed to speak to the other boss and the brand manager about my case on Monday.
Now
I want to keep my job! I love it! The whole situation is just a lot of minor things gone wrong and a buttload of miscomunication…
My desired outcome is that I get a second chance.

Im sadly just an apprentice in training. they’re in their legal right to fire me any time they want since the trial period goes til end of September
But they knew that I am trans, hell my job place is known for being lqbtqa+ and trans supportive. They knew since the beginning that I did plan to undergo surgery, I told them that I have no control over the surgery date when I signed the contract two months ago
The brand manager even knew that I want to get it over with as soon as possible, they said it wouldn’t cause trouble quote “if you’re ill, you’re ill”

I tried talking to the brand manager but they kept repeating that I would have to talk to the chef → the one who signed the contract termination and wouldn’t respond to my calls…

The talk went well-ish. They were understanding of my situation.
They can’t prolong my trial period nor can keep me as an apprentice… They said they’re thinking about giving me a long term internship but it’s not decided yet and they want to talk to my co-workers first before. I have to wait until they call me to hear their decision.
So it’s 50:50 between I’m fired or I’m kinda degrated from apprentice to internship with next to no pay which is 1/3 of the one I’m getting now, but where I live apprentices get also next to nothing☠️ but the same work hours as before and everything.
The thing is… I don’t have another option. So I gonna have to depend on the mercy of my chefs… it sucks but at least I’m not completely out the door yet
