Your boyfriend/husband or kids would love you for sure.

Now a little messing around:
Some ladies didn’t even bother getting meat :crazy_face:

These are called Modaks, Lord Ganapati favourite and mine ofcourse, usually made during Ganesha chavithi festival.

I always used to wait for them every year, but last year I only tried myself and distributed to neighbours. Btw recipe wise , these are coconut dry fruit sweet mix inside that oil fried wheat wrapping. :yum:

That reminds me of jilledu kayalu that are also served on Vinayaka chavithi (aka Ganesh Chaturthi). Not sure if that’s a regional difference.

Rice flour with stuffing made of sesame seeds and jaggery on the inside.

(Not a result of my culinary prowess btw just a disclaimer)

Yeahhh, These are all similar ones offered on Ganesh or Vinayaka Chavithi festival. I heard them as Undrallu ( I know they are called by different names and different recipes) …the one u showed are steam cooked with rice wrapping , but we prefer Oil bathed ones :joy::joy:

The steam ones are more sattvic compared to mine Rajasic type :blush::blush::muscle:

That explains a lot. I suppose it’s a Brahmin specific dish :sweat_smile:

A beautiful symbolism exists here for the reason why we offer Modak to Ganapathi …

Lord Ganapathi is also called as Modaka priya ( Modak meaning ananda, bliss and priya means liking…) So he is an and in eternal bliss always ,
Sat-chit-ananda ;
That is also the reason Modaks are being offered to fire in the Ganapathi homas at the end, so that the end result expected is always ‘ananda’ spread to everyone after the homa.

Irrespective of symbolism, every year saying Lord Ganapathi name we eat Modaks on that festival. :joy:

Haven’t quite followed up on this yet…
So this peculiar habit of taking photos of the dishes came from my time in china… People would wait in a restaurant until food is served and then tell everyone not to touch any plate until sufficient photos were taken :joy: pretty weird, anyways…

@anon46520955 I’m a big fan of dumplings, what’s your filling in yours? (3rd row on the left). I would also like to know what’s in the center of the 5th row? And what’s that on the last picture on the right?

@xbravo how did you make those meatballs?

@MonkeyOwl i didn’t know this word semolina but i just checked and that’s exactly it. (Grießklöschen) i basically just threw in the sausage on top lol, so don’t think it’s common.

@Bali indeed very wise! In Germany they love potatoes and there are all kinds of recipes. I once did the low-no-carb diet for a week and stopped afterwards haha

@anon37166570 what’s that? Spinach? Are you like Popeye the sailor man?

@Starlight i can taste the chicken :poultry_leg: and others through the photos i swear

@DR_MANHATTAN lots of meat is good for everyone right… :rofl:

@KingMerc :sunglasses::sunglasses::smoking: (can’t find the cigar emoji)
