The Down Syndrome audio blocks the production of PKR ( Protein kinase R ) in hippocampal cells. PKR activates the ISR ( Integrated stress reponse ) which decreases protein production in the hippocampus.

The hippocampus is involved in learning and long-term memory formation. It is also involved in prediction and imagination.

A few studies on healthy mice show that inhibiton of PKR resulted in enhanced long-term memory and synaptic plasticity. For more information, please read this article .

Therefore, because mouse study results do not always mean the same results in humans, the Down Syndrome audio might improve cognitive functions.
