Hey there @dingobells!
I read news about Germany and some Western countries planning to reinstate mandatory military service.
It seems that war is approaching.
I am also very curious about the stance of European youth on mandatory military service.
No matter what, I will not take sides.
I reject war and being a soldier.
Politicians, generals and government officials can fight; I will not.
I will not die for the egos of politicians.
You need to read less news
Meh itās not ideal however the state of my generation it would be good to be toughened up through military training but sending us into a battlefield seems silly and counterproductive to the evolution of humans.
There hasnāt been much talk about war here in England between people I know so it doesnāt seemed to of entered the collective as much yet
Yep, a few hours after posting they went through. thanks
thanks for the welcome
Youāre welcome
Here in Italy, a bill has been proposed to reinstate compulsory civil and military service lasting 6 months for both men and women between the ages of 18 and 26. The motivation for this proposal is not related to the need for a larger army, but rather to the consideration of military and civil service as a way to re-educate young people. Honestly, I hope it will not be approved. Although it is a fairly limited period, I strongly think that education comes through school, which has nothing to do with a path that should be freely chosen.
they see a worrying trend of the current youth.
No direction, no structure, strange self important ideals.
Complete lack of respect of others and awareness.
You know when they threaten bad kids with military school.
who knows really.
Well, wouldnāt a compulsory military training for at least 3 months for all youth be beneficial for all?
Well, in most countries you have to attend school, donāt you?
You say that like I willingly went to school for like 15 yearsā¦
To say any state is far fetched and a limited perspective⦠here in England the leaders have never known the struggle of poverty or working class lifeās as most of them came from wealthy backgrounds itās more a lack of understanding then a lack of care but yes from what we see there is a lack of care in the western world but not a lack of want for power and money⦠battle of the egos ![]()
Your saying it like they will throw us into a war zone it will most likely be a bit or training toughen people up mentally and physically to sent them up for a better life⦠getting kids away from their phones for a while will do them so much good
Not fundamentally.
In school, you will learn essential skills: reading, communication, how the world works, etc.
In military, you will learn to survive, self-defense and how to be a man, and perhaps some respect for authorities as well. I went through some shorter military training (voluntary) and I dont regret that.
Like 1-2 years would be much for that. But 3-6 months doesnt sound so scary.
Man of experience I see ![]()
We had this debate in class I said right away yh go for it letās do it then one of the more āsofterā boys in the class was like āno my free will they canāt do that to usā
ahh man this generation is actually doomed if a war does come and things actually become real ![]()
@Dreamweaver Iām curious on your thoughts on war?
All good all fair, yet I belong to myself, Iām not a piece of cattle to be spent in a meatgrinder in the name of a state.
If itās to defend my ground, one can learn it without bonding itās methods to an imposed military doctrine
Well, a little bit ![]()
Well, invading foreign powers would love that. Populace that has no guts to mount a resistance.
But yeah, always better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war. Some things are just essential, yet heavily underappreciatedā¦
Ok, so if a strength is a threat, should we all be weak?
