That’s an interesting perspective, but even one of my favorite researchers, Calogero Grifassi said that Sovereignty of a Soul cannot be usurped, thus us agreed to go through such a phase, on a higher level of our being, in order to evolve or learn from this huge cycle of experiences.
At a higher level we are not victims, we are Creators.
Edit: Heck, at all levels we are Creators or rather Co-Creators.
The question is why did we allowed or permited malefic entities to have so much power over this Planet?
Anyway, the more I researched, the more I found the same answer, the captives agreed to be captured and the captors are not actually more powerful than any of us, they are just parasitic beings doing their thing.
Now it is Earth and humanity, aeons ago might have been other species, other roles, other Planets, other places or planes …
It is all like Chess, played from Higher Dimensions, by us too, by our Higher Selves, to be more accurate.
Even hellish dimensions can be escaped from and are constructs too.
Everything can and does Evolve, maybe those Tricksters will too, or maybe they will continue on their lower path and hopefully us, humanity as a whole and most species, will continue on an ascending path (although, many humans probably will descend into lower paths, in time, but that is the thing, it is all a choice…).
Anyway, the biggest reveal is that good and bad, us and all bad entities can evolve, that’s what Consciousness does.
We are not victims, they are not our masters.
These are just temporary roles across aeons and aeons of aeons of existence and possibilities…
This is just a piece in the Infinite/Endless Whole…
Let’s not identify only with what we perceive or what others say we are or how things are at a certain moment or rather how we perceive them to be…
Things are always more than what they seem, level after level, mask under the mask, layer under the layer, We are forever more…

No. It depends on what “hellish” means. It can actually be extremely beautiful. That’s why it allures souls to it. The lowest place is called patala Loka. It’s where souls are stuck in an abundance of money, wealth, and power. They just lack knowledge of spiritual wisdom.
But the actual lowest place, where no souls can escape, is called Naraka. You can’t escape this place. The soul is bound to be tormented. This is a real place, and yes, they exist. There’s no rest in that place a place where the soul is cleanse through painful scenarios where they even might be burn. With hot boiling oil. All of these are mentally controlled. The body also becomes denser than human form.
—a pure cleansing for souls who have done something filthy in their lifetime.
But even in this realm. They will eventually release. And born again in the lower lokas. Until everything cleansed and neutralize. But even then. They have to go through the deepest reincarnation in this loka called earth. And reincarnate with very unfortunate placements of planetary. Thats how karma works. And how everything is seen. Through divine cosmic timing. Each of the lokas has its planetary aspects to it. Only naraka is not. Thats why its called a cleansing place. So it burns karmas. TheTime in Naraka is cosmically long…
As of example. Think about nazi? He wont be reincarnated to this realm. Probably trillions of cosmic years. Even passing one year of Brahman year. A day for bhrama year is like 1 billion year…

But like i said. Patala loka is the low loka. You actually can spot a soul that reincarnated in this earth. And theyre from that tapala loka.
The characteristics most of them will reincarnated as very beautiful body and face. And live in rich family environments. They have very alluring magnetism. Most celebrities are mostly from that lokas. Sounds weird right? How can a low loka can be so heavenly.
Oh and btw. In patala loka. Orgies is a norm.
This is not saying that people who reincernate in tapala loka are evil. Not at all. Sometimes a soul incernate to this realm because they want to explore beauty. Freedom of power. And sexual exploration. Theyre good souls but didnt get to experience this in budh loka/earth. So that desires to feel that lead to that loka. So they have to spend time there until the karma is exhausted. People born in patala loka usually live long. Like thausnad of years. Their body never root. Or smell bad. They always look beautiful 24/7 and suffering in tapala loka don’t exist.
Thats why it is being put in the lower realm. All is pleasure induced things in tapala loka. But their souls is screaming. Feeling emptiness. Because they barely know what god is.

The only nasty part is being stuck at that level, since inner peace, friendship and family I would put waaay above pure pleasure (if we isolate pure pleasure, from all the other things).
Heck, things in moderation might be the peak of human condition, except spiritual stuff, experiences, knowledge, etc., where Aboundance is again found, but involving more refined pleasures and beatitudes.
Again, I’m not denying physical pleasure, since if is and can be peak, but being stuck only in it, yeah, I can sort of see why it’s Considered or rather why it is low…
And that’s why reaching heaven is so difficult. 
If pleasure is the standard of lower abodes and most humans are slaves to pleasures, well, 2+2 = 4…
We all go where we resonate most with, no?

Or since most of us, if not all of us are complex individuals, we are a little bit more refined and nuanced than that, thus, probably most of us reincarnate here, no?

Yes. But every souls that dies will face yama. He is the one that eventually put you in where it should. If we as human live by righteousness. And always being helpful i dont think you should be concerned about death…but yama is know what the deepest desires you truly want. If a spiritual pursue is what you truly want. You will be soending time above the earth loka. Its more of balanced. But mostly lighter. With spiritual wisdom. But even then you wont be forever live in that…because karmas still counts in that realm. And when its completely exhausted. You wil be either put in earth again. But born in very comfortable environments. The only way to really freeing yourself from this cycle of death and rebirth is to completely out of that game. That means become one with bhraman. You become nothing. In that realm. Like completely nothing.

They are definitely busy doing their thing, good workers, we can give them the credit, but it is us, through our decisions who(m) /which (we) choose where we go…
