There are a few reasons.
A buddhist idea is that Earth is one of the few places in the universe where there is enough balance for people to have enough a blend of pleasure and pain, that it creates the best opportunity for enlightenment and detachment.
There is a Taoist/Confucian idea that Earth and Humans have the most balanced proportion of yin and yang that they can embody the Tao. Humans, for example, are set apart from other animals on earth because they are capable of embodying “The Mean” --the principle of harmony that The Dao is understood as.
Quite a few qigong groups talk about aliens trying to influence humanity for the express purpose of using the human body as a starting template for their own species development/engineering.
