The first study is pretty striking, though it misses a very large category of people–those who had Covid but did not seek medical care, for whatever reasons, mostly because they had zero or mild symptoms, though some folks just soldier through anything short of death. In the study, as one would suspect, the more severe the treatment level, the more likely there was an add-on psychiatric illness. The whole thing blends out to the headline number. But if they could include the untreated Covid, the “third” number would go down quite a bit.
That said, it’s a disturbing study.
