I would say you are correct. The same mechanism that deactivates the NFT when you hand off the print (without rightfully transferring the ownership of the token) would understand when your property has been inappropriately transferred.
Security, especially technology security, has many factors involved. The (forgive me) simple way that you’re asking this here doesn’t take into account those many important factors.
By and large, the more control you have over some technology, the more you can make your decisions about how you want to “secure” your decisions. But even with total control over a bit of technology, your security is still only as good as the decisions you’re making.

So, my cousin sees the picture of some NFT in my phone case and he likes it and asks me to give it to him, if I hand it to him, NFT gets deactivated for me and for him and for everyone?
As long as you retain the token in your wallet, you simply handing your cousin a pretty picture and your NFT continues to work for you.
