The Five Hinderances Are Too Real - How many fields are you using?

Hey,
if the game is to make the unconscious conscious, then we must see the five hinderances as they are -which gives a bit of control over them.

That is if your path is the path of wisdom.
On day 8th day of my intense inner work -intense for me-, I gained insights into how the 5 hinderances were stealing my attention…

The funny thing is that I didn’t even realize that they were “the five hinderances” until I described what I was going through to ChatGPT and asked it to reply like Buddha. It turns out, I was kidnapped by all of the 5 hinderances on day 7  It was soo true and soo profound to realize it… :open_mouth:

and then a deeper insight arises: Constantly trying to fix/clear/let-go is a hinderance.

Using too many fields is just doubt and restlessness!

It’s the enemy of the soul/stillness/equanimity!
In Bhagavad Gita, Krishna describes lust as the eternal enemy of the soul.
And bro/sis, Restlessness is pretty close to lust. It’s craving. That’s it.

Anyway… I wanted to share my experience here in case it helps someone along the way.

Sammy shared something similar on Patreon

Well, the synchronicity is that I also saw @SammyG 's “Resistance is a Trap” post on Patreon on the same day as I was realizing those 5 hinderances.

That too is " Uddhacca–kukkuccaRestlessness and remorse"

Anyway, since the topic came there, a kind shout out to his work.
I recently finished watching the energy awakening course and also read the first article of the focus course, and they align so well with the vipassana course I’ve been doing. The vipassana teacher is a multi-diciplinary dude too, so I’ve been getting various insights that elevated my understanding.

Tbh, the stuff on Arcova seemed a bit unnecessary to me until now -until I gained enough understanding. Now I see the value of following structured paths where others walked before. So, this is also my testimony for what’s going on there. If you aren’t subscribed yet, you may reconsider it now.

And if you can’t afford it or unwilling to contribute there, use the forum here.
I encourage you all to share your experiences, communicate, and perhaps summarize your biggest learnings.

Much love and respect to you all.
Good luck.

The Cure: Equanimity

The hindrances are not enemies to eliminate.
They are objects of observation.

In practice:

  • Notice when one is present
  • Observe its sensations
  • Do not suppress or indulge
  • Let it pass through equanimity

Their weakening is a result, not a task.

Thank you for this, it’s really resonating. I had just decided to listen to one area related fields only and drop the rest x)

I am quite fond of vipassana. What kind of course are you taking on it and what does it teach? And what have you learned from it so far?

I tend to sometimes focus on certain concepts and the long focus on them, set me onto certain states of consciousness. ‘All is temporary’ just neutralizes everything for me and keeps me grounded in the present.

I did the Yogilab 10 day online retreat.
It’s the classic 3 days of anapana + 7 days of body scan routine, but the insights I got…

I have a whole new understanding of my awareness, consciousness, memory, and concentration.

It just automatically gave me this self-control that comes from within, rather than suppression.

And the peace of equanimity/stillness… the treasure within automatically dissolves a great portion of seeking happiness outside…

All the sudden most of the scriptures I read became more meaningful…
Like “practice non-doing” or “be empty” of Taoism that bugged my mind for years. It’s all clear now.

And during body scan/sweeping, I realized how real and literal ‘blockages’ are  I felt my chakras and sushumna nadi. Travelled my awareness through them. Controlled them a little -cheating.

Bhagavad Gita started making much much more sense too and it increased my devotion to the divine.

Overall, the gravity of my soul started to make more sense and most importantly: I feel confident and guided.
