Lucid dreaming like @Dr_Manhattan said really puts you in the driver seat.
Sometimes (speaking from past experience) it can be very out of the left field when you become lucid, and not to mention the other beast of maintaining lucidity, because as a beginner I use to wake up when I would realize “this is just me dreaming”.
At that point it becomes a real creative sandbox, and you can tell yourself I want to do this or that, turn around a couple of times to change your landscape, etc.
Like creator mode essentially.
An example would be to be able to fly like superman, and somehow your body will think it’s way into knowing what that feels like etc.
You feel the G-forces,etc. the wind brushing your face.
Beyond surreal, it’s like how do I even know how to experience this.
My high school mind had other ideas but that was then lmao.
Just get proper sleep hygiene with this, and results will even compound I believe.
You also never forget your first lucid dream, so if you have yet to start I can’t wait to hear what your first will be with this.
This should also help somewhat with sleep paralysis.
