I think it is good strategy. As the rubles were pouring into the country leading to inflation, this will help them keep their spending power stable and not devalue even more than before.

I have to emphasize that government spending does increase GDP, which in this case is true. But just bcs the state decides to spend more doesn’t mean that the economy is doing great.

To justify their economy is growing, when I say GDP growth was based on import loss.

GDP goes stonks, indeed, but what about well-being? (Tank Maker Well-being aside)
You can also build ghost town, and dig huge holes, boost gdp in the short run, but that’s not growth in the broader sense.

Young people is the most valuable asset for the country.
But if millions of young people fly away abroad or die in the battle?..
I wonder what “the masterminds” plan to do with it, you cannot be a big empire, “Russia Great”, with decreasing and aging population.
Unless they wish to import half of Africa and Middle East in there, lol.

Yeah, same old people telling me about how great it is in Russia. The hard life etc. They would run and escape. They can’t be bothered to drive their car to pickup food at a window because they are « tired »
As if young Russians are happy to go to war and live a life of sacrifice for their rulers
I’m sure plenty of them have dreams of their own
« Yay, we’re downgrading our lifestyle. Only American children need video games and fast food. We love working instead of having fun. For Russia ! »
This is real people’s lives
seeing miles and miles of lanes young men trying to escape a military draft for their dictator (let’s be real here). How could you be hyped ?
The real test is this: would you rather be Russian than German ? Would you give up your German passport to become Russian ?
If people are leaving their country in mass and the government has to stop them. They know. Whatever propaganda or statistics you give me, I know people are trying to leave.
If you have an immigration crisis, with millions of people at your border. Your country must be good.
If your country’s internet is censored and people can’t complain freely. You know your country isn’t that great and you’re afraid of the truth.
If your country is so great, why are people trying to leave en mass and why you’re censoring their speech if all they have to say is « Yay »
If you’re not allowed to hate your leader, then I can’t trust the polls. Even less so than free countries.

You conquer Ukraine, get like 30 mil. more ppl, then Moldova and Belarus. Then what? They don’t have rly any better demographics afaik.
Maybe let’s go on conquering the central Asia, Caucasus and Mongolia, eventually making Russians lose majority? Or then go to war with NATO?

What “old” people don’t realize in West, that most aged people in Russia can’t afford having a car, people continue to work until they whither away and it happens for decades in more grotesque forms than citizens of European countries imagine.

Originally it was a success, but ended with a Time of Troubles.

However, that’s the same critique we hold for socialist governments
They twist the natural cyclicity of the economy by using artificial boosters that push it in the short run, but are paid on long run resources.
You gave free money to people, gdp boost, production boost, consumption boost

Nah, even if you created them, the money, you haven’t created the resources consumed, which wouldn’t have been consumed without you altering the flow of the economy
And when you want restore the balance at the levels, previous of your intervention? That’s not the same economy anymore, there is an artificiality it should not be there, there weren’t any reasons of it to be there, and the path is permanently disrupted
Is it the end of the word? No, as we grow forwards, but we grow less than we should have if it was natural
