they talk a lot about cultivation which i believe is meditation. when they spend hours cultivating, they get stronger and sometimes figure out new abilities.
Thank you so much @psynergy for starting this thread…manga and anime are my little secret passions that I rarely get to express with others. I’ll keep my list short as well, don’t want to overwhelm folks with too much info. I’ll start with my top 2.5.
I love Naruto! It’s my all time favourite manga and anime…a classic hero’s journey with the power of love and the bonds of friendship being its central theme… I don’t care if people think it’s corny, I absolutely adore it!
I have found it an immense inspiration in my own life…especially whilst navigating through difficult periods without victimising myself; therefore, being able to keep my heart and mind open regardless of the circumstances.
A close second for me is Bleach. I prefer the manga to the anime because Tite Kubo, the creator/artist, is the best mangaka of all time in my opinion. He used illustrative techniques that a lot of other mangaka have copied since but never quite duplicated. The story is fantastic as well.
***I also recommend watching all anime subbed to get the real flavour of the work the mangka envisioned.
In my opinion, the Japanese voice actors are miles ahead of the American ones when it comes to anime acting, therefore, a lot of times the subtle meanings and pronunciation of Japanese names /words are lost in translation.
My knowledge is very limited, but I enjoyed Rurouni Kenshin and Dragon Ball Z
I guess I liked Kenshin Himura’s character. This is just my take, and it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but the protagonist had a dark past, whose seen and experienced some terrible things, but now wants to use what he learned for good. He essentially integrated his shadow into something useful and worthwhile. To protect, rather than to destroy.
Plus the music score was pretty good.
Dragon Ball Z. Can’t get tired of this one. It’s just good stuff.
OMGoddess!!! Thank you sooooooooooo much for the update @Valerie
I pray this is true because it really hurt my feelings the way they suddenly ended the anime.
Please keep me updated if you hear anymore about it.
Honestly, you’ve made my day even brighter!
You have excellent taste! Bleach was also my number one for a long time, but some of the plot choices Tite made rubbed me the wrong way so, Naruto just edged it to a very high second place…regardless, Kubo is still my number one Mangaka without a doubt.
Thanks for sharing your other faves as well, I’ll definitely check out Erased first, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.
Wow so many classics, brings memories back in the days there is so many my very first anime ever was Captain Tsubasa after Dragon Ball of course in the '90s nostalgia, The Prince of Tennis another great one…
