Incredible Gaming Moments...!

Hey everyone,

I know we have one mega thread for gamers somewhere here…

Which is pretty cool already.

But I don’t think we have a dedicated thread for those incredible special gamer moments.

To give an example:

I remember playing Half-Life 2 much much later than when it was released. I suppose it was released in 2004 or sth? I probably played it for the first time in 2015 round about.

Anyways the game is absolutely incredible in and of itself and set a kind of new standard. The game introduced the gravity gun which looked like the Gauss gun from Half Life 1. So now you didn’t even require a normal gun to shoot those aliens, just pull any object towards you with the gravity gun, then shoot the object at the enemy.

The special moment comes near the end of the game when you succesfully reach the citadel, a large skyscraper with the main villain at the top floor. At some point in the citadel, you walk through some kind of electromagnetic gate that confiscates all your weapons, but when it tries to get your gravity gun, it messes up the system and your gravity gun is now fully overpowered and can shoot lightning bolts and stuff.

The sections after felt so goddamn cool…literally like a cheat code. You could just play with the enemies one by one and shoot them into the horizon at will… Felt so awesome. Here I found a screenshot:

Anyways, that is just one example of a special gaming moment. Do you have any such cool moments from older or recent games?

Feel free to share.

Cheers

:clinking_glasses:

Edit: Just wanna add that the official name for the gravity gun is the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator  : Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator | Half-Life Wiki | Fandom

Well this isn’t such an incredible gaming moment, but I remember how I felt the first time I realized that a rogue in World of Warcraft could become invisible!

Imagine my amazement when I realized how many times I practically sacrificed a lower level character by having to face enemies head-on, and then years later only to realize I could have just become invisible and sneaked by! My go-to had been Hunters because they could have two pets, so sending in the hounds and staying back at ranged was a treat, truly. But Rogues, oh my! :woman_mage:

Not my toon but still a cool Elf Rogue:

This:

(random video; this was one of my favorite locations/levels, I just loved how easy it was to get rid of a target lol, Mississippi was your best ally)

I LOVED the Hitman series, especially Blood Money, since it was my first one to play; I had countless Incredible Moments, finding so many ways to eliminate the targets, infiltrating almost any area, if you got the right disguise , etc.

Poison, strangling, sniping or making it look like an accident?
Perhaps that sweet kitchen knife? :joy:

Your choice, and the game offered you so much freedom, so many ways to approach your targets.
It was a pure joy to play it.

And, of course, many other games left me surprised, in a good way:

Stronghold Crusaders,
Grand Theft Auto series,
Simcity,
Counter Strike,
Need for Speed,
Crusader Kings 2,
Etc.

Perhaps I’ll delve into these someday…

Oh, this:
(yeah, the so called definitive edition, anyway, I kinda like the new graphics, ngl)

I was mind blown by the Staunton Island back when I was a teen, like I used to try to get over that damned bridge lol, yet failed so many times lol…
Then I got wiser and did the missions lol.

I used to see the other island and marvel at it…
Then, it happened, I finally got to it and I was mind blown:
A whole new World to explore, etc.

Heck, probably Mario was my first love lol,
And others, like Street Fighter,
Mortal Kombat…
Later Age of Empires, Call of Duty, etc.

Can’t forget those classics.

Tbh, probably Bioshock games left me speechless…
In terms of how unique and awesome they were:

That was one I didn’t like too much somehow. I thought that street carnival level was really cool where you could shoot the crowd endlessly and they’d respawn anyways lol

Oh, I loved that level lol,
I used to clean the streets lol,
First fun, later I used to try it the “right way” lol…
I mean, in a more professional,
More Hitman,
Less lunatic.

I kinda forgot.

In that level you couldn’t clean the streets?

Bad memory lol.

However, it was one of my favorites,
Birdies costumes, sniper way etc.

  • Reaching Level 99 with my Diablo 2 LoD Sorceress :relieved: :sparkles:
  • Playing Tomb Raider III with a walkthrough and still taking ages…
  • Finally being able to play Doom 2 with full X-Y-axis POV
  • Building maps for UT99
  • Playing through Unreal 1 in a completely dark room with fully immersive sound
  • Finding all the secrets and playing almost all the side quests in Fallout 2

There are many more but I don’t have time to brainstorm right now…

Hitman 1 to 4 are the best.

  • Hitman 1: Codename 47 (2000) → killing everyone with a knife from behind
  • Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002) → in most levels you go fully stealth or you die, lol
  • Hitman 3: Contracts (2004) → killing everyone with that silencer pistol without triggering alarm
  • Hitman 4: Blood Money (2006) → running amok lol

Haven’t played the newer ones, since they adjusted everything for the dumb masses and ruined the whole franchise…

Tbh, Hitman Absolution was different,
Not necessarily bad (for me), just, it was different.

Supposedly a more personal mission, for 47, so to speak, yet, Idk, you could consider canon or not.

Well, they are, above all, games…

It felt more like a movie in certain parts,
In quite a few levels, the freedom was significantly restricted, yet, again, I still found it good, just not my favorite of the series, and, tbh, less of a Hitman game, overall.

While, the last 3 games, I only played the Hitman from 2016 and, maaan, it was fun, really really a true Hitman game, similar with Blood Money, in what is used to deliver, just less nostalgic, for me.

Overall, a mind blowing game, Good, perhaps even great graphics, Amazing locations, countless ways to silence your targets…

It was like Blood Money on steroids, in certain aspects.

The levels were huge, beautiful extremely detailed levels, many many ways to approach the contracts.

Minuses?

If I remember correctly, for example, you couldnt upgrade your weapons, which kinda sucks, but you got new weapons and different start locations, for each level, when replaying.

It wasn’t a walk in the park, though, the 2016 one…
You required planning, observation, improvising, if needed or desired, it was a brand new entry in the series, definitely the “New Blood Money”, in my view.

Winning a 3v1 against my uncle, cousin and father at Age of Empires 3

It started as a deathmatch game, it evolved as a Napoleonic war all against me, it ended well

At one point i remained with 6 civillians and a boat, i found an island where to recouple, and made the sea my walls

Slowly slowly grinded out my uncle which was the most competent, then crushed the rest of the resistance

I reached #12 13 or 14 in top kills ever on DA2 mini militia leaderboards at a certain point in time
(Phone game)

Back when I was 12/13 years old

Also glitched it and was #1 and would defend that spot with my friend from Cali

We would take turns playing on the same account, playing games and getting as much kills as possible

People used to call us legends lol

I had a Jr (some one who names them selves after you with JR at the end of the name)

We left that game after a while came back on android this time and became the #1 clan within a month
Went to a clan war with the biggest baddest clan beat them easily after taking years off
Made them join our clan
And had even people claiming our clan with out ever even meeting us lol
Fake clan members id run into

Felt like bad asses patrolling our game making sure every one is in check

I remember joining lobbies and people would be like fk
Cuz they knew who I was

I met my friend from Cali on that game, met him in real life 6 years later
We both say it destroyed our grades in school, another friend had the same thing happen too
DA2 really came through and it was everything then

lol we used to even train people to get like us
Typically clan members

Multiple people would call us legends
It’s crazy cuz, people knew who the heavy players in the game where
And there was like a whole aura to the players

I viewed my self and others as legends
And it was serious

We even knew eras of players
We knew when some one was lying when they would claim “I’m an OG player” lol but we’d know they where probably noobs by the time we where playing (I think NOOBIE was every ones name unless they’d change it)

Clan wars where like historic events

That game is much different now, commercialized

But there was a time where there where legends…

I played with my old coworker in my valet job lol

He was swearing he’d beat me and that he was the best at it

I never had so much confidence in telling some one “you can never beat me in this”

He didn’t wanna play after a while cuz it was just too easy, he said he remembered himself to be better

I told him that’s the only game in existence where I can easily tell him with absolute confidence that I can not be beaten by him
Something like that I said lol
I told him my history with it too

I even told him he can practice for 6 months while I continue to be rusty (haven’t played in years prior that) and I would still beat him my first game back
Something like that
And I actually believe that

Not even trying to condescend

It’s that I really did this at a “would be” professional level back in da days
Led clans
Etc
It would take a long time

The pros today probably can mop me (well , not mop, it won’t be a landslide no doubt about that, maybe edge a victory or a little more than edge)
But they need more than 6 months of practice
But if I get 1 month of practice
I’m cleaning house

Ahh so nice to look back
Laughed a bit

This thread has been crowned

Offerings to the thread must commence…

Legends, indeed.
I can’t even imagine reaching such a level,
The highest I got was local recognition,
As in recognized by my friends lol,
In CS 1.6,played it more than a decade ago,
Lol…

I mean the dedication, passion and effort required and everying you got,
Man, that in itself made you a legend,
But to reach such level of recognition,
Congrats, Brother! :raised_hands:
