Surya Namaskar – Automated Sun Salutation

Surya Namaskar – Automated Sun Salutation

In the golden embrace of dawn, when the first rays of the sun kiss the earth, ancient wisdom whispers through the ages in the form of the Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutation. According to the venerable Vedic and yoga scholar Ganesh Mohan, the original Sun Salutation was not a series of physical postures but a sacred symphony of 132 mantras chanted at sunrise, each followed by a heartfelt prostration towards the radiant sun.

Today, the essence of these profound rituals is distilled into twelve powerful mantras, each connecting us to the sun’s subtle pranic currents, the twelve magnificent rays of solar light.

  1. Om Hraam Mitraaya Namaha (Salutations to the friend of all)

    • With hands folded in Prayer Mudra, we honor the sun, the universal friend, the giver of life, light, and boundless energy.
  2. Om Hreem Ravayee Namaha (Salutations to the shining one)

    • Stretching upwards, we reach for Ravaye, the luminous beacon, embodying the source of all brilliance.
  3. Om Hroom Suryaaya Namaha (Salutations to the one who induces activity)

    • We salute Surya, the majestic charioteer of the heavens, whose seven horses symbolize the supreme consciousness that permeates all planes of existence.
  4. Om Hraim Bhaanave Namaha (Salutations to the one who illumines)

    • The sun, our Guru, dispels the darkness of ignorance, illuminating our path with wisdom and clarity.
  5. Om Hraum Khagaaya Namaha (Salutations to the one who moves quickly in the sky)

    • As the sun traverses the sky, it marks the passage of time, and in our bowing postures, we seek progress and enlightenment.
  6. Om Hraha Puushnee Namaha (Salutations to the giver of strength)

    • The sun, source of all vitality, nourishes us with its life-giving rays, infusing us with strength and vigor.
  7. Om Hraam Hiranya Garbaaya Namaha (Salutations to the golden cosmic self)

    • Hiranya Garbaaya, the cosmic womb, holds the potential of the universe, mirroring the sun’s role as the seed of all creation.
  8. Om Hreem Mariichayee Namaha (Salutations to the Lord of the dawn)

    • Maricha, the dawn’s first light, guides us in distinguishing the real from the illusory, much like a mirage in the desert.
  9. Om Hroom Aadityaaya Namaha (Salutations to the son of Aditi – the cosmic Mother)

    • Aaditya, born of Aditi, the great Maha Shakti, signifies the creative force from which all life springs.
  10. Om Hraim Savitree Namaha (Salutations to the stimulating power of the sun)

    • Savitre, the dawn sun, awakens us to new beginnings, while Surya, the risen sun, energizes our daily endeavors.
  11. Om Hraum Arkaaya Namaha (Salutations to the one who is fit to be praised)

    • Arka, the embodiment of energy, deserves our reverence as the sun fuels the world with its boundless power.
  12. Om Hraha Bhaaskaraaya Namaha (Salutation to the one who leads to enlightenment)

    • We honor Bhaaskara, the light-bearer, guiding us towards the ultimate goal of liberation, as we reach towards the heavens in our final pose.

The Sun Salutation is not just a series of movements but a profound spiritual practice that imbues us with joy, energy, and myriad benefits:

• Activates the digestive system
• Promotes weight loss
• Enhances flexibility
• Detoxifies the body
• Boosts blood circulation
• Reduces stress and anxiety

• Enhances immunity

Embrace the Sun Salutation, and let its magical embrace transform your body, mind, and spirit, leading you towards a luminous and enlightened existence.

Here the audio is an automated set of the Salutation. But adding to that is as if it was done at dawn at the top of a mountain. In this way, we receive the energy of the sun, the magic of a new day, joy, hope, more vitality, etc

I think this would pair perfectly with Tapasya of Savitur.

@Maoshan_Wanderer are the mantras in this field legitimate? I’m seeing “Hroom” and it’s different variations in here. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought I remember these seed sounds being made up by Dhyaanguru or someone like that? Or maybe it was just “Kroom Lingaya” that was made up? I can’t recall.

Hey Barry,

Sorry haven’t been here lately due to work and stuff lol

Just caught up with @This_Boy_Here haha

These are legit mantras.

The main mantra here is hreem. The Bhuvaneshwari or Maya syllable - the syllable that can liberate one from the matrix.

When this is combined with other Sanskrit vowels, aam, eem, oom, aim, aum, ah - these variations occur which are sort of like auxiliary powers of the main mantra that resonate with the six Chakras and here emanating as twelve forms of Sun deity.

Totally legit mantras.

I’m using this field rather generously recently, among a couple others of course.

I noticed an interesting pattern:

I would normally have an alarm set to around 7am. Since listening to this one more and more (at times for 30-60 minutes), I found I wake up every day almost exactly an hour before my alarm, usually around 5:50 to 6:00. I don’t get up though, I continue to rest in bed, but I don’t fall asleep again, as my brain seems already fully active.

Perhaps there is some connection between surya namaskar and waking up early?

Sunrise, maybe?

This is very much possible. I’m too waking up right at 6 no matter when I sleep.
That’s because we connect more with Sun’s energy and align with his energy. We will be pushed towards more in tune with circadian rhythms as we use…even our eating habits, sleeping patterns etc. will change.

Are you doing Surya Namaskar physically as well?

I have never done it physically

I wonder what would be the benefits of doing + listening to this field together.

It should be a pretty sweet amplifier, I’d say.
Oh and my face is getting more and more colour.

I think when I first listened to this field, after a few listens I felt really hot and stopped.
Now I’m used to it

Yea and the heat generated burns all fat and toxins and your body will get toned and will glow after few days or weeks provided you don’t undo the work by eating unhealthy food.

I do notice I am being pushed to workout again more frequently and it feels extremely good.
I must admit tho, I love the occasional unhealthy food :sunglasses:
